So it's kind of remained on the back-burner as one a lot of us have wanted to include in TR for some time now.

So far in my opinion in remains a better TR title than Deus Ex (less ports) or Timesplitters (less VG historical importance -- at least subjectively?).

As you can tell, when it comes to retro, I'm passionate about it, and I just want to see the best games that have that "community" aspect make it here. Something about HL that gives me a "meh" every single time I think of it. DE just blew me away, and it even holds up today. Multiple paths, decision making, skills upgrading, stuff that you just didn't see in FPSes at the time. This is from a company that at one time was hyping Daikatana as the next big thing in FPS and we all know how that turned out. Deus Ex was nothing but REDEMPTION.

What does everyone else think about G&W for a month?
I've got G&W 4 for the GBA, and I'd love an excuse to go back to it. So much more stuff needing to be unlocked! I know it's a simple set of games but there's enough titles and they will keep you engaged.

If we can force Hobie to write the article I'm all for Deus Ex.

Well, I'd like to cast a vote for the DKC series for the platformer genre, and as far as SC5 vs. Parappa, the latter just stuck with me more, so that would be my pick if I had to choose.

I'm with E.E. on Half-Life; just never was a game that really drew me in. I've never played Deus Ex, so it'd be interesting to see how that is.

I'm also on board with FF Special; Tech Romancer is great, but it only has 1 console port compared to the plethora that FFS offers. So, dammit Sevin, ya swayed me with my love of SNK fighters.

I like the G&W idea... It'll give me an excuse to play my Mario Bros. one, which has been collecting dust for the past two years.

I guess those who mentioned Wing Commander 1 being a better place to start have a point. I guess I forget how many people don't have experience with the series. It also has a few ports but I'd still strongly recommend the PC version though for people playing.

kinda rambling post warning... fyi.

Silent Hill 2
Survival Horror
Platforms: Recommended- PC, PS2, Xbox ...Other- PS3/360
Why?
I'm nominating this for a few reasons.

1) We did an arcade title last year, we're currently playing one arcadey title this year, and the current nomination is for two other arcade style titles. Haven't you guys had your arcade fill yet? lol
Let's shake things up and go back to traditional survival horror.

2) This title is significant because Silent Hill 2 is Silent Hill. The content in Silent Hill 2 is referenced probably more than any other game in the series. The locations were reused in Silent Hill 3 (and film); the monsters frequently show up in other titles (Origins, the arcade game, Homecoming... the film again!); and the music is played during the film and one song has been re-composed for use on the newest Silent Hill title on the Vita.

You almost can't escape this game!

3) This is probably one of the most depressing games I've played. Which that may be an odd reason to recommend a game; but how many games that you pick up start out with a guy who has practically zero reason to keep on going?

4) The soundtrack is unforgettable. Probably up there in my personal favorites as far as gaming music goes.
