Played some Costume Quest this morning and don't really dig it - I can see the appeal but I think it isn't for me. Certainly a full fledged Halloween-based game, though!

I also spent some time with the first Darkstalkers game on the MAME cabinet last night and had some fun getting my ass kicked by the computer. It must be one of Capcom's toughest mid-90s fighters (or else I just suck at this particular game).

I also played a bit of Ghostbusters Sanctum of Slime which, based on an hour or so, seems much better than reviews indicate and well worth the $1.50 or so it costs on PSN right now.

I also have played the first few stages of Dokuro for the Vita, which has a nice write up here: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 32&t=40200

I played about 5 minutes of D for PS1 before my son woke up and clued me in to the fact that I wouldn't have the two uninterrupted hours I'd need

In any case, I am kind of enjoying just dabbling in some of these games this month without the intention to beat them from the time I turn them on. It's a bit of a departure from my typical play style (pick a few games and see them through to an end before moving on), but I am having more fun than I would slogging through something I don't thoroughly enjoy.

I hope to get some RE: Revelations and HOTD4 playtime in in the next day or so - those are two I would like to beat this month, I think.

It's not just you. I can 1CC Darkstalkers 3 pretty easily. But the first game is brutal.

Aw too bad. Hope you get to it. Did you have any thoughts based on 5 mins? Haha.

I plan to get to it. I thought that the looking/moving was wonky and that the early CGI-people were unintentionally creepy looking.

movement takes a bit to get used to. But this might help you understand it...
Game-Rave.com wrote:Laura herself is part of the Full Motion Video footage, so you are forced into whatever pre-laid ‘path’ has been set-up, which isn’t always easy. By example, you can ‘walk’ into a room and stop. In reality, you just watched a video clip, and are now at the ‘standing still’ image, which, by pressing up, left or right, will then scroll and stop upon the next possible walking direction (i.e. the next movie clip). Because you are on a predetermined path of video clips, trying to navigate to something can sometimes require bizarre movements to finally find the right ‘still image’ that has the direction you want. One room in the castle demands you move to a spot 2 spaces further over from a door than when you first go to it, in order to use the door. Since you only ‘walk’ (aka the speed of the movie clip) everywhere, it can get extreme confusing in how to navigate the invisible track you are on.
...that may sound frustrating, but you get used to it. I did. And remember, it's only 2 hours to have a "complete" experience.

I despised that game so much, I actually sold for almost nothing it along with some other random Saturn games to saturnfan and you know what? I don't feel bad about it. It's clunky beyond belief, the puzzles are insanely difficult, it's boring and while the 2 hour time limit is cool at first then you realize that the game is hard and you end up googling a walkthrough because your time is running out(Picture a game like Myst, Gabriel Knight or even Portal with a time limit, you'd probably go insane before beating it).

If you have a Dreamcast then play D2, it's awesome and it's much better than D.

There's also Enemy Zero but it's even more frustrating than D. The enemies are invisible and the gun you have needs to be charged and shot perfectly in order to kill the enemies which also kill you instantly, and there are limited saves which is one deal breaker. Also, did I mention most of the time the gun you have can only shoot 2 or 1 round? Also, why is it called a gun? Even a plastic knife would be more effective.

I don't know Juan, my experience with D was totally different. Like I said, I beat it on my first try. And only found 2 of the puzzles challenging.

I played through the first disc of D the other day and loved it. It reminded me of Lunacy. I think for that style of a game it is pretty good. I think I will put my 2 hours in next weekend. So do you get random endings depending how far you get?

I also finally put Zombie Revenge in my cab yesterday, I will likely be playing that a lot till Halloween.

So I tried to put some time into Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins. Screw this game. Apparently the designers took it as literally as possible when people told them Ghosts and Goblins games should be really hard - this game is insane, even with multiple hit points. Enemies attack non stop so I never feel I can keep moving safely, and the muddy 3d graphics to nothing to help. I've beaten Super Ghouls n' Ghosts which I found to be a nice level of difficulty - not easy, but certainly not as hard as everyone says. This game is just torture.

^I hated UG&G. I still play the old Ghosts N games, but yeah. The PSP one is terrible.

I played a bit of Clive Barker's Jericho recently. It has a great cheesy vibe to it that feels like a horror-sci-fi movie or TV series. It's also fast-paced and fun to play.
