They'd have to have George Lucas levels of hubris, but it's definitely possible

I avoided spoilers as much as I could too, and initially (like, while the credits were rolling) I didn't think too much of it. Not that satisfying, but they obviously wanted to leave a lot to speculation.

Then I wanted to see what other endings there were, read some of the complaint threads/articles, that kind of thing. Like I mentioned, the more you think about it and dissect it, the worse it gets.

Okay, here's a minor grip I'm having. Why do I have to move to a different area and come back for NPCs to continue a conversation? In Mass Effect 2, I could take a few steps, turn around, come back, and hear the rest of the convo. This is kind of annoying, and really, why do two people talking keep pausing indefinitely like that anyway? It's weird, and so very video gamey. Oh well

I can't imagine how these seemingly competent writers could have messed up the ending so much. Weird. Maybe they just didn't have enough time with big budget deadlines. Maybe what others perceive as bad is something they thought was clever or brilliant. I guess I'll have to see for myself.

What is it with trilogy enders being sucky? Spider-Man 3, X-Men 3, Terminator 3, course I'm talking movies but Mass Effect certainly feels on par with any big budget movie trilogy. I guess it's true what they say. The hardest of telling any story is the ending. Doesn't matter how impressive a gymnast is if she can't stick the landing.
according to some supposed tweets by other script writers from Bioware because of time constraints the ending was written by Casey Hudson, the main guy at bioware and one other writer without any review or opinions from the rest of the writing team. Not sure if true.

Sigh, well I'm on Eden Prime. So far I've already encountered a weird bug that made Shepherd and Liara unable to look at each other in conversation, a squad mate who ignores my commands, and enemies with shields that my adept character and only other two squad mates have absolutely no way of removing. Nice game balancing there Bioware. Already this game feels more rushed and unpolished than Mass Effect 2

and the glitchy new cover mechanics that have my shepherd standing up when I don't want him to

I think you're jumping to conclusions here Gamerforlife and just kind of dumping out your quick thoughts too fast, lol. I wasn't feeling it for the first few hours myself, but then I really got into the game and I think it's infinitely better than ME2 in everyway. I'll agree the covering doesn't feel as tight though, but I got over it.

I'm still playing multiplayer a lot when my friends get on. It's a blast.

Oh, yeah, I was totally venting and making impulse posts. That was probably obvious. That fight was just getting on my nerves, but I got past it by abusing Singularity to stun enemies while I gunned down their shields so that I could actually use my biotics. Just irritated me that that fight was so stacked against me. EVERYONE had shields, my adept can't bypass shields and my only available squad mates were Liara and James, neither of which has a handy overload. I just felt like the game was giving me squat to work with.

The grenades were just adding insult to injury. They forced me out of cover and as an adept once you get out of cover, there's a good chance you'll be gunned down and killed before you can blink. The cover thing pissed me off because I'm behind cover, I move left and there was a taller structure at a right angle to where I was, and Shepherd just automatically decided to move behind it, standing up and exposing himself while also facing the opposite direction of my enemy. It was like the game just took control of Shepherd away from me and I was like, "GET DOWN YOU IDIOT!"

The cover system seems....I don't know, too loose now. I don't like it.

Sigh, got past it though, moving on.

I was also annoyed because for some odd reason my squad commands weren't registering. I tried to get my tank James to move up so he could maybe strip down those shields with gunfire for me. I know he can take hits. He kept ignoring my commands. Then some guy tosses a grenade towards either him or Liara, I forgot who it was. I give the order to pull back to my position, and my squad mate just stands there.

Combat just gets buggy sometimes, but it's a Bioware game so....yeah.

which system are you playing on? The PS3 version seems to be buggier then the PC or 360 version. Just what until some of the later crew cutscenes and interactions. Some are better then in Mass Effect 2, including meeting all the team mates from 2.
