I wasn't feeling it for the first few hours myself, but then I really got into the game and I think it's infinitely better than ME2 in everyway. I'll agree the covering doesn't feel as tight though, but I got over it.
I'm still playing multiplayer a lot when my friends get on. It's a blast.
Oh, yeah, I was totally venting and making impulse posts. That was probably obvious. That fight was just getting on my nerves, but I got past it by abusing Singularity to stun enemies while I gunned down their shields so that I could actually use my biotics. Just irritated me that that fight was so stacked against me. EVERYONE had shields, my adept can't bypass shields and my only available squad mates were Liara and James, neither of which has a handy overload. I just felt like the game was giving me squat to work with.
The grenades were just adding insult to injury. They forced me out of cover and as an adept once you get out of cover, there's a good chance you'll be gunned down and killed before you can blink. The cover thing pissed me off because I'm behind cover, I move left and there was a taller structure at a right angle to where I was, and Shepherd just automatically decided to move behind it, standing up and exposing himself while also facing the opposite direction of my enemy. It was like the game just took control of Shepherd away from me and I was like, "GET DOWN YOU IDIOT!"
The cover system seems....I don't know, too loose now. I don't like it.
Sigh, got past it though, moving on.
