No, we were talking about California Raisins on the NES. I guess I should have kept one more level of quotes in there.

Alone in the Dark (PC)
Diablo II (PC) (waiting to get a hold of Diablo 1 for PC first!)
Star Wars KOTOR I and II (PC)
Banjo-Kazooie (N64)
A Boy and His Blob (NES)
Chrono Trigger (SNES)
Donkey Kong Country 2 (SNES)
Pilotwings (SNES)
Power Stone 2 (DC)(waiting to get a hold of 1 first)
Skies of Arcadia (DC)
Castlevania: Bloodlines (GEN)
Shadowrun (GEN)
Guardian Heroes (SAT)
Bushido Blade 1 and 2 (PS1)
Dino Crisis 1 and 2 (PS1)
Discworld (PS1)
Parasite Eve 2 (PS1)
Thunder Force V (PS1)
Zanac x Zanac (PS1)
all of the last gen Prince of Persia series (PS2/Xbox/GCN)
all of the Ratchet and Clank games (PS2)

There's plenty of other great games sitting around that I have only played for a few minutes - it would have doubled the list, easily. Such a sad state of affairs to have these and to have not played them for a moment!

Oh that's not even a sizable portion of my backlog. Those are just the most highly touted "classics" that I have never played. There are other "classics" that I have which I've only played a few minutes, one level, etc.

That said, I was actually able to hammer out a good 5-10% of the backlog last year, so maybe I can cut into it a little further this year :)

We're all rooting for you! Especially since most of us have horribly long backlogs too

The games I have actually beaten versus the ones I actually own or HAVE owned are rather embarrasing (I didn't beat my first video game all the way through until I was about 11, but I had been playing since age 7).

Out of ones I currently own:
Suikoden (Have gotten all the way to the last boss the first time I played it and couldn't beat it, now several years later I'm replaying the game again).
Suikoden 2 (But that's because it's still on it's way!)
Final Fantasy X/XII (Twelve, not X-2, but not sure if it's old enough to be considered a classic, and I've never even popped in X)
Shenmue I/II

Out of ones I've owned before but never beat:
Earthbound
Sonic 2
Shining Force 2
Phantasy Star 2
Final Fantasy VIII/IX

As for ones I've never owned, pretty much anything on a Nintendo system with the exception of Fire Emblem (For GC, not GBA).

I made bold the few games that I think you can have a lot of fun playing over just an afternoon, perhaps with a friend or two. Of course there are more, but those are some great ones that you can just pick up, play for 15 minutes or so to enjoy, and then go to the next one. Play the ones you really liked a bit more.

Also, I HIGHLY recommend at least playing through to completion Knights of the Old Republic (first one) and Chrono Trigger (maybe on the DS on a trip sometime?). Make KOTOR your priority.

There are a ton of games that are both on my back log and my to get list. I wouldn't even begin to be able to list them all here. To be generic, I have not played very many ps1 or snes RPGs and would like to get some.

There's a lot of fighters I've never played:
Street fighter series
Tekken series
Virtual fighter series
Marvel vs capcom
Basically any fighting game with "Vs" in the title

I want the MvC games though.
