Yay thanksgiving! I will be spending this time hanging out with my daughter watching football while my wife goes to work. I'll be having the traditional meal for thanksgiving... tacos.

It's about 60 degrees (F) right now, which feels REALLY warm compared to how the weather has been lately. It's absolutely perfect out right now! I'm used to it being cold on Thanks Given, and half the time it rains.

I'm vacationing down in the Florida Keys with my wife's family. It regularly gets to 85f here every day, only gets down to about 70f at night. Everything is what I expected it would be, which isn't that exciting for me because I'm not a beach person. The only thing I didn't expect was the sheer amount of iguanas around these islands. The resort we're staying at actually has a family of them that live on the pier nearby. And they are tame. Yes, tame iguanas that will eat out of your hand. Here are some pictures I took of these crazy lizards:
They like to lay on the concrete pier and stay warm.
They really love grapes and apple chunks. They like blueberries somewhat. They do not care for pineapple though.
I call this guy "big red" and he's the king of the iguana pack. He's freaking HUGE. As big as my whole arm and his head is as big as my fist easily. He's the most fearless and will come right up to you and whip you with his tail if you're in his way. He looks orange in the bad cellphone pic, but he is indeed flame red.
Most of the iguanas look like this one, nice and green. Apparently only alpha males turn red like "big red" is.
So yeah, Thanksgiving in the Keys. I'm going to attempt to make a papaya-coconut-pineapple baked dish today in the spirit of beachyness.

Flew in to Chicago for dinner, then I'll be heading to Vegas with my dad for a Frank Sinatra tribute show (it's his 100th birthday), then flying back to Seattle.

Last weekend, my stepmother's mom underwent surgery and was put on a respirator. They tried several times to take it out, but every time she had a bad reaction. On early Wednesday, she took a turn for the worse. We were planning to go down to the beach, but now we are staying and putting her into hospice care. Dad right now suspects she will make it through the week, but not much longer.
Tell your families you love them, folks. Happy Thanksgiving.

I want to offer up thanks for good friends and distant, but still loved, family. Also for a soon-to-be new house. And I want to thank everyone here for being their wonderful selves and making this place awesome. Best wishes to everyone's families and loved ones.

If you're saying it's your dad's 100th birthday, that's awesome. Tell him some weird internet guy told him happy birthday for me.

No, Sinatra's.

So Sinatra's birthday is December 12th, but his birthday tribute show occurs before that date? I like the idea of your dad being 100 years old more though.
