Re: Super Mario All-Stars Wii ?

They SHOULD HAVE at least given the ORIGINAL versions of Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. Lost Levels, Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. The All-Stars versions of 1-3 could've been an extra bonus, but not the main thing. Yoshi's Island, Mario 64 and Sunshine would have been nice bonuses, but not required.

They also SHOULD HAVE included artwork in the disc, like concept art, extra art, the original manuals from the NES and SNES games, and perhaps even the Nintendo Power Player's Guide sections on SMB1, 2, 3 and World.

That would have been a great package. They might have even gotten away with a $50 tag for it.

What they actually gave was a joke.

I could've seen them doing something similar to the Zelda: Collector's Edition on Gamecube. Including all the NES/SNES games as well as Mario 64, Paper Mario, and/or Sunshine on one disc. Maybe throwing in a few more details in the art book, and MAYBE a graphical update on the original four games and world, but even then that may be pushing it.

Really, Nintendo just wanted a money printer, and people are obviously buying it. Sure it may not be a great package like the Zelda compilation was but people are still buying it so you know Nintendo is still happy with it. I do agree, however, that they could've done a lot more with it.
Collects promo gaming stuff, certain import games, hockey memorabilia, and other oddball things. (sig and avy under construction)

To quote what I posted over a month ago about this limited edition:
JordanPlayer wrote:This is Nintendo doing a quick cash in on the Mario brand rather than actually putting some effort into the product and making something special. It's Mario's 25th anniversary; you figure they would do something big but they just re-release All-Stars again (not that All-Stars is bad at all). I compare this release to the Legend of Zelda Collection (while still pissed about not including LttP); that release had much more of the older back-catalog of games up till the current generation.

I understand that if I do not like it I don't have to buy it and that people who don't have the older consoles can play these games (even though they are on Virtual Console). It is just a disappointment to hear of this collection for a milestone anniversary and find out it is a re-release of All-Stars with a few non-gameplay extras.

I just bought the snes version for 15, and now i feel like i got a way better deal.

Including super mario world would have been so easy since they had that cart that had it on there anyway. Also the original mode would have been cool too.

They'd never be able to do it, but having that flash crossover game on it would be a cool little bookend to the series.

Now licensing would never allow it, but how cool would that be.

Looks like there's no need for me to open up my copy since I already have the superior version injected on my Wii :P

I haven't been able to buy a single Virtual Console title (because I don't want to support that business model), so when I heard about this I happily bought it on day one.

I don't own the Super Famicom version but even if I did, I would have bought the Wii version.

Neither do I. Tying games you bought to one single console, unable to transfer between consoles unless you send both your consoles to Nintendo for them to transfer the games, is completely BS. PSN and XBL are okay, in my book. Nintendo blew it on the VC/WiiWare, IMO.

I do have 10,000yen in VC games, because I got that much in Wii points when I bought a couple classic controllers. I have spent much more then that on the PSN.

SuperAnthony64 wrote:Its an anniversary collection for 30 dollars with a mario book, soundtrack, and 4 games. It would cost 21dollars alone on the virtual console to own all these games and for 9 dollars more you get goodies. Not bad IMO.

It was $32 on Amazon when I bought the pre-order for it. I'm not sure what the deal is, but it was $52 the other day and $48 when I checked just now. I didn't even get it yet, it says "Not yet shipped - Delivery Estimate: December 20, 2010 - December 23, 2010" in my order history. :?

What was wrong with the other 25th Mario Anniversary argument thread?

You're better off than me - they told me it won't be until sometime after Dec 25.

What's the deal with that? They didn't have enough copies? Also, what's the deal with the price fluctuation? It was $52 then, but it's $48 now. Weird? They don't seem to be asking me for any more money though.
