People are a bit quick to judge. Basically, after X-Men vs Street Fighter, everyone (even a lot of reviewers) just automatically assumed that every Capcom 2D Fighter on the PSX was utter crap.

Strangely enough, these are also the same people who blame Capcom's decision to put SF3 on the Dreamcast instead of the PSX as the reason the series never got popular.

I'll admit, I'll take the Saturn version over the PSX one any day of the week, but the PSX version was still a solid game.

"The Terminator" and "Time Slip" on the Super NES. For one, I've heard everywhere that people despise SNES Terminator's music, game play, graphics and such, but I tend to enjoy it for its close resemblance of the actual movie. For example. the title/credits scene of the game is the exact same design as the movie. Yes, the game is very difficult, but I do enjoy a challenge every now and then. As for Time Slip: It's basically just a rip off of Contra. But I just LOVE the extreme action, kickass music, speed, and storyline. It too is difficult, yet fun.

I really liked Bloody Roar for the PS1, but I remember other people I knew at the time shunning it as an inferior fighting game. Everyone I knew just replied with "it's not Mortal Kombat," or "it's not Street Fighter," or "I like Tekken," without giving the game a second glance. That always disappointing me because I could never find anyone for versus matches. It must have done somewhat well though because there were two or three sequels I need to try out sometime.

Ok I only had a Genesis and not an SNES. I only really played SF2 once or twice when i was that age. The only fighter I did have was Shaq Fu and I thought it was the shit. Awfully horrendous controls and so many things wrong that I can't even remember half of them right now. But man I loved the story, the graphics, the sound, everything about that game..... Maybe that's why I suck at fighting games today  Another awful fighter that I absolutely loved was BioFREAKS on the N64. It was probably my 12 year old self that loved cutting off peoples limbs/head/cutting ppl in half.....ah the memories.

Games you know are bad but still love?

Post by WrathOskvro »

I'm sure some of you guys share the same thoughts as me about some games. You know they're either nothing special or just plain bad, but something about them keeps making you come back to them and enjoy them.

Right now all I can think of is the Toshinden series for PS1/Saturn and Ballz for the Genesis.

I'm not sure if I would say people "hate" it but I absolutely love Mario Paint and I don't think it gets anywhere near the amount of respect that it deserves. It was so awesome at the time. I can't really elaborate anymore than that but it deserves more credit.

Also I really like Mario is Missing even though I know the game is pretty bad. I got it as a gift for Christmas when I was really young, and my brother and I played the shit out of it to try and figure it out. Beating that game without any guides, cheats or anything was quite the accomplishment for us when we were ~6 years old. The game was ambitious, and not that bad for an educational game. Granted if it didn't have anything to do with Mario, I probably wouldn't give two shits about it, but it does have a lot of nostalgic value for me.

That reminds me I sadly don't think I have my original SNES mouse or pad. :(
