I don't recall hearing anything about it, and it seems like something they would have touted, but if someone corrected me, it would be a nice surprise.

Don't think online multiplayer is part of the deal. From Sega's PR:

"Play these classics together with a friend from the same console at home."

Would be nice to be surprised, though.
