Drinking with opiates can be a little synergistic, but really you just end up drunk and opiated. If you really want to increase the potency of what you have, take a dose of cough syrup 15-30 minutes before you dose (if you're dosing orally). The active ingredient in cough syrup (DXM) is metabolized by the same enzyme that metabolizes opiates. The DXM binds more tightly to that enzyme, and displaces the opiates. So you end up with more opiate making it to your bloodstream. Grapefruit juice does the same thing, but being a natural product it's harder to work with. IIRC, this increases the efficacy of a dose of opiates by about 1.5x, and a dose of benzodiazepines by about 2x.

I've taken hydrocodin recreationaly and I can tell you why that's fun. It makes you content with sitting in one space and doing absolutely nothing. I've gone to some ridiculous parties, complete with beer spraying my face from 10 feet away fired form a damn super soaker and I didn't even flinch. It's just comfortable. That, and in my experience, it gets you drunk a lot faster. Haven't taken it in a while though. Isn't that awesome.

The surgery was to remove a 5 cm cyst from my cheek. Frankly, the pain isn't really severe at all. I'm impressed how little it hurts. But it does ache some, and it's probably better to take 1 Vicodin than 2 acetaminophen. 1 at a time is unlikely to result in addiction in the short term and it will help preserve my liver. I understand I need my liver, and I would like to not give it up.

Within a couple days I'll probably stuff the remainder of the Vicodin in a drawer and forget I have it until it's expired. That happens with all sorts of stuff around here.
