Advice?
Re: Advice?
Wait before you do anything. The PS3 is not selling too well (neither is bluray) and there could well be a price drop now that christmas is over. If you return the bluray player now, pocket the $200 from it and wait a couple months. You might be able to get a ps3 for $300.

What's your problem with Blu-Ray? It's leaps and bounds better than standard DVD, and it is only more expensive right now because it is new. If you have an HDTV any larger than 40" or so, the difference between DVD and BD is just as great as between VHS and DVD, if not more. Plus, it is a durable and inexpensive storage medium - just last month Pioneer unveiled a 400gb BD disc that would be compatible with all current players. do you just have Sony animosity or do you really believe it is a poor format? Streaming HD is certainly not a viable competitor, as very few people have bandwidth that would allow them to download in anything close to BD quality...lordofduct wrote: And lastly in the weird chance Blu-Ray dies out (like I hope it too) you will have something a console left over worth more then just playing some stupid weird middle ground format no one adopts because this HD revolution over DVD is a load of fucking crap and in a couple years time we're going to have yet another more reliable format that has better video quality and isn't a load of garbage like Blu-Ray.
Anyway, back on topic, I would suggest returning the BD player and getting the PS3 instead. There's plenty to keep you busy until the next game from Team Ico.

Re: Advice?
Sounds like you won't be losing any money/value by returning the BR player and getting the PS3. But I'll tell you this -- I really think they are going to drop the price of the PS3 after their fiscal year ends March 30. It might not happen until summer, but I think it's going to happen this year and well before the fall/holiday season. Waiting for a price drop isn't always the best, but you could always be waiting for the next drop but...
I don't think you'll be disappointed by having a machine that's a BR player and a great console. There's several more games besides LBP to look into.

Re: Advice?
If it means anything most stores in this country have dropped the price of the PS3 by at least £20. Some stores are even selling it for as low as £269.99.
They can't get rid of them fast enough.
