Personally, I would say go with the SNES version. The touch screen controls are totally pointless and don't offer any form of convenience, you can tap a button much quicker then you can draw your stylus. Using the optional touch based battle controls are quite possibly the worst thing ever, unlike Final Fantasy III in which the action takes place on the lower screen along with the menus, the DS version separates menus and action, so you can't look at what's happening as you select your commands, it's idiotic! The Anime cutscenes are cool, but they're executed terribly. The cutscenes convey key plot moments, but afterwards it shows the original version rendered in the games engine as well, so not only are they pointless, but they make the original version look stupid. It's still a good game, but the SNES version is on the SNES! Can't beat that.
