thinking of buying an nes... *story inside*

I agree about he nes being overpriced. The gamecube and wavebird however are a great deal, people will pay over $20 just for the controller.

The NES is a bit overpriced, even with the extras. It's not a rip-off by any means, especially if you just can't find one in person anywhere else in your area (though that would be hard to imagine). But I agree you should shop around a bit. Honestly, you're not going to miss much by not having the Zapper. There's only a handful of games that use it and many if not most get old pretty quick. The Advantage is not a great joystick, and not that useful for any NES games (it lacks "click" if that means anything to you). I say all this as a pretty serious NES collector who has all of the above.
Replacing the 72 pin connector (if that's even needed in the first place) will solve any problems you might have with reading carts. Mine works like a dream. No blowing, no jiggling, just insert cart and hit the power button - boom, title screen. Everybody makes a big deal out of the top-loading NES but I personally think they look like total dog shit and are an affront to my childhood and everything holy in this world.
Plus, you have to use RF out with them because they don't have AV outs. WTF? However, the 'dogbone' controller is awesome and you should hunt one of those puppies down.

I agree with what everyone has been posting but I had a thought. If the NES is a little overpriced you could offer a bit less but also pick up the GC and wavebird. Then sell the GC and wireless to even out the difference.

I would hold out. In 2 months or so you'll see a better deal and wished you held out. Anytime you have to question yourself if its a good deal or not, its probably not.
