You need a network adaptor. It was used as a bridge to the hard drive supplied when FFXI came out. However, you can use any IDE hard-drive really:

That shows you what hard drives work and if there are any mods required. AFAIK all seagate drives should work without a problem. Some Maxtor drives don't quite line up to the connections on the network adaptor. Most western digital drives don't fit at all.
I don't know prices in Australia, but there are a few Australian users on this forum that might know of a place to get the adaptors from.
Plus if you only want to put a few games on the PS2 then hard drives with less than 100GB can be found/salvaged for next to nothing these days. IF you are really strapped then you might get lucky if somebody is throwing a PC away. I've salvaged many HDDs this way.

Re: PS2 swap disc?
Then this all means my modchip is actually booting the japanese patched esr games and esr is just getting help from the chip to boot the different region. I use esr because on its own the lens can't boot the discs. With my PS2 I discovered that when using patched games they did boot, not automatically when inserted as they should, but when run by manually selecting esr i'm able to get the games going with some skipping in cases but its in all good for casual gameplay for games not loaded in the hdd. I browsed through psx-scene and didn't find info on import booting and don't have a non chiped ps2 around. Exactly what exploit are you using to load them as i'm not too familiar with them.Mozgus wrote:That doesn't really do what he asks. The exploit still cant direct boot import retail copies for you. It can however offer a means of using a game of your region as the boot disc, and then you can swap to the import disc. Problem is, if the import disc's TOC size is larger than the boot discs, it's ganna fail at some point. The solution is to use a game that you know has a 4.37GB TOC like Devil May Cry 1.Niode wrote:You don't need one.

All it takes is an action replay with a usb memory stick. It's easy. I managed it with the latest version of action replay (the one that doesn't allow you to boot elfs directly). All I had to do was use the old method of exploiting by copying a rigged PS1 saved game matched to the sles code for the PS1 game. Booting the game and then copying the elfs over to the PS2 memory card. Once the PS2 memory card was formatted with the exploit it's done. All I do now is load my elfs onto the memory card, pop the hacked PS2 memory card in the PS2 and voilà, it boots up to a fully exploited menu and you can run anything from it.
The best thing about it is I can take my PS2 memory card and memory stick with me and plug into any PS2 (Slim or Fatty) and it will boot up the freevast exploit. So if my mates want their PS2s exploiting I just bring my kit around and it's done within 5 minutes.
