Bah, lost my reply when my cable modem flaked out on me.kingmohd84 wrote:What is NOT logical is nintendo.
When companies fight to say they have the better graphics calculating every pixel, the wii is not even HD, its hardly better than its system released back in early 2000!
After all these years, they decide their still won't even play DVD !!
All the big games like gears of war, god of war, GT, MGS, fable, halo 3 are on the competition system, yet the wii is mostly releasing remakes and selling old games on wiiware....
ITS THE SYSTEM SELLING MOST BY MARGIN
that needs explaining!!
So the reason the Wii is doing so well is twofold. First, the Virtual Console is fantastic, as there are a lot of younger gamers out there, or old gamers who didn't keep their consoles, who want to play the classics. Picking up an old NES and the quality titles is a fair amount of money, while picking up the same titles on the VC is pretty cheap.
But the second and much bigger reason is that Nintendo took a very different strategy than Microsoft and Sony. Microsoft and Sony went with the standard "How can I get the biggest piece of the current consumer pie?" strategy that the video game companies have been doing for ages. Nintendo decided to make a bigger pie. They tapped into the market of non-gamers and casual gamers. They got your mom, your grandmother, your kid sister. They don't care that it doesn't play DVDs. After all, they already have a DVD player. What they do care about is that this Nintendo Wii has some fun stuff on it for them, and they can spend a couple of hours a week enjoying themselves, instead of things like TV.
