100% I flubbed the title, so many Cave titles in one year I'm confusing titles..now that is a good mistake to be able to make.
Definitely! They are really churning them out now. Four a year is almost too many, but I won't complain!
The reason Cave is developing more shmups in the arcade is that they absorbed the team headed by Shinobu Yagawa, designer and programmer of a number of Eighting/Raizing shooters when they were let go.

Also outsourcing development and porting duties.

Death Smiles Death Label (Cave) Xbox 360 & Arcade
Dodonpachi Dai Ou Jou Extra (5pb division#2) Xbox 360
Do-Don-Pachi Dai-Fukkatsu (Cave) Arcade
Ketsui Extra (5pb division#2) Xbox 360
Ketsui (ARIKA) Nintendo DS

They will continue to make at least 2 new shmups for Arcades per year due to there being 2 individual teams now working on Arcade shooters.

Since Cave is going to be saturating the market, I hope the prices stay reasonable for imports. It's likely that they won't; anyone who doesn't get their games shipped over immediately will have to pay a larger collector's markup...

Since when have they outsourced development? (Ketsui DS doesn't count) The ports and publishing, on the other hand, have almost always been handled by someone else (more recently).

Mushihime Sama and Ibara ports were developed by Cave and published by Taito.

I try to pretend that game does not exist. Other than that, what other Cave shooter has been developed by someone else? I was under the impression they didn't outsource, but above it is implied that they do. Please note I'm not talking about ports.

Never, except for DoDonPachi II, as you mention(which is why that game DOES NOT mean shit to shmup fans). Development = creation. Cave does not outsource that. Whoever ports and publishes something is immaterial. Any competent company can do those, which is why Cave has used so many over the years. Arika, Atlus, Capcom, AMI, etc.

Cave doesn't seem to stick to any single publisher, I guess. Like ZenLogikos says, though, only the development and eventual release really matter.
