Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I got my Master's at Syracuse University and my Ph.D. at the University of Iowa, both in Communication Studies - my emphasis is in rhetorical theory and criticism and in critical media studies - specifically my research focuses on the rhetoric of new media technology . My dissertation was about hacktivism.

I teach in a Communication Studies department at a state school in Pennsylvania with about 9,000 students. I teach courses in public speaking, political communication, media criticism, visual rhetoric, film, etc.

My interest in retro gaming and retro gaming communities is thus both personal and professional...

That's pretty impressive there. I wonder how many phd's we have on the boards...

I'm about a year away from attending a masters program in library science (hopefully). Did 6 months working in collections maintenance (shelving, shifting, shelf-reading, etc...) and I'm at the music library now doing circulation and hopefully getting involved in digital collections. Check it out - http://www.sc.edu/library/music/

I'm more interested to know how many librarians-in-training are on the boards...

For those librarians in training, you should be excited by what is happening with the preservation and cataloging of gaming history at some universities. I think it will continue to be a trend. One good example:
