I have to say that I totally disagree with this comment. While it was a great game, a lot of its acclaim comes from it ushering in the era of 3D platformers.

To me, Super Mario World is a perfect platformer and has aged so much better than Super Mario 64. I find it to be infinitely more playable than the Mario 64.

Sorry to break the topic, but this game is one of the only ones I will defend to the bitter end. Call me a fanboy if you will. :P
In my opinion, Super Mario World is the pinnicle of 2D platformers, whereas Super Mario 64 is the pinnicl of 3D platformers. Comparing them is to compare different genres, which makes it difficult.

You'll have to excuse me; was tired when I typed down that comment.

I agree with you on that matter. What I meant to put was:

Mario Kart 64

Trying to compare World and 64, to me, is like trying to compare apples and oranges. Its like comparing Mario Galaxy with Mario Bros 3.

My top 10 list, in no particular order, would be something like this:

1 Goldeneye
2 Cruisin' USA
3 Turok
4 Super Mario 64
5 Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire
6 Diddy Kong Racing
7 Mischief Makers
8 Donkey kong 64
9 Mario Kart 64
10 Star Fox 64

edit: Wooops, don't know how I forgot Star Fox.

Wrestlers.. Crikey there were a lot of good N64 games. I know when we did the Top Games Today that was one of the things that people commented on, the lack of wrestlers in the list. All I ever played was WCW Vs NWO Revenge and I don't have very good memories of that cause I was crap at it! Any suggestions? with information to back it up of course!
Haha omg my bro and friends and I were talking about No Mercy being the best wrestling game ever the other day. Just so much customization so many things to do and the fighting system is actually pretty nicely done. Yet now it seems slow to today's wrestling games.

So anyways here's my list

Ocarina of Time
Mario 64
Super Smash Bros
Mario Kart 64
Goldeneye
Star Fox 64
WWF No mercy ;)
Banjo Kazooie
Cruisn USA
Star Wars Rogue Squadron

Goldeneye – Still my favorite console FPS and the one that really immersed me in multiplayer.
Mario Kart 64 – One of very few games I can always get players for.
Zelda Ocarina of Time
Battle Tanx Global Assault
Ogre Battle 64
Road Rash 64
WCW vs NWO Revenge – While Wrestlemania/No Mercy may be better games, I spent more time with this one. La Parka baby.
Harvest Moon 64
Pokemon Stadium – Ok so the game is boring, but the lickitung minigame is surprisingly addictive.
Army Men Sarge’s Heroes – The single player was soso, but four players in the kitchen was awesome.

Close calls – Star Wars Shadows of the Empire, Hybrid Heaven, Space Station Silicon Valley, Mischief Makers, Blast Corps – the last two I sadly do not have enough experience with.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who's heard of/played Mischief Makers. I also like Sarge's Heroes, I rented it from Blockbuster back in the day, I'll have to pick up a copy of that now that I remember it. I liked the single player a lot. Although, I was a lot younger when I played it, hope it still holds up now.

Its holds up ok but their are some problems with the enemies shooting through walls. Kinda like Toy Commander for the Dreamcast, it was awesome back then, soso now, but the multiplayer still holds true.

Just scored F-Zero off eBay, haven't played that since the last time I rented it from Blockbuster!

If we had received the 64dd and the level creator for Fzero-X I think my opinion of it would change. But since my experience with user created levels is fairly lackluster, most have been terrible, I think it is the weak link in the series. And while that may sound harsh, a bad Fzero is still better than most games out there.

I base this on the fact that even though Timesplitters 2 came out many years ago, I spent the better part of the weekend tinkering in the mapmaker with my cousin between bouts of deathmatch with bots. This cousin values graphics over most everything else in a game and even he was just having a good time making the stage difficult to get around in. With a well designed mapmaker, like the one in TS2 or the Fzero Expansion Kit, multiplayer games can be enjoyed countless years down the road. While this may sound like common sense you would be surprised at how many people will write of a game because of a couple bad stages never noticing, or caring, about the mapmaker and its potential to build more suitable worlds. Needless to say, more games need mapmaking devices.

Ok enough tangent from me.
