I'm not trying to bash the guy. I completely respect Miyamoto and everything he's done for the game industry. The Famicom changed the world and introduced me to my lifetime hobby. All I'm saying is that the guy isn't exactly the creative genius he once was, and people still cling on to his every word like it's gold.racketboy wrote:Well at least Miyamoto has a LOT more under his belt than just about anyone else in the industry and has had very few failures.Flak Beard wrote:If you have a chance, listen to this podcast (towards the end)...

Dyack challenged the whole industry's way of doing things, especially in the way games are scored and how the message board communities view them. I guess he feels the NeoGAF community is harmful to the industry.
Anyway, he makes a lot of good points and I think people hate him because there's a few ounces of truth to what he has to say. It's funny how someone like Dyack get bashed for his beliefs, but someone like Miyamoto is praised in his senility. Perhaps all this backlash just proved his point even more.
My hats off to Dyack. I'll get Too Human one of these days as well. It doesn't look that shabby to me personally.
I can't think of any other game creator still in the business that deserves such high praise.
And this is coming from a former Sega fanboy.
Why do people hate Denis Dyack?

Suddenly his cameo on Code Monkeys as a annoying kid makes much sense.Gamerforlife wrote:I remember David Jaffe being upset about some article or review or something someone had made about something he had or was working on. He went off on some angry rant on his blog I think, swearing up a storm and I think that gave everyone the impression that he was a bit immature and unprofessional, which is no surprise.

Re: Why do people hate Denis Dyack?
The short answer is because the online video game community is run by a bunch of over-zealous children who hunt in packs. Even though Too Human bombed, what Dyack has had to say (regarding online culture etc) is legitiment. Places like NeoGAF which breed this sort of behaviour not only piss all over the reputation of video games but are also socially dangerous. I feel sorry that Too Human bombed but oh well that is how it it.
Jaffe too is a brilliantly clever individual, although I agree, he needs to make more games.

Re: Why do people hate Denis Dyack?
I thought the issue actually stemmed from a lawsuit or potential lawsuit. Doesn't Too Human use the Unreal Engine? I believe Silicon Knights was (going?) to sue Epic because they felt the engine wasn't fully supported, for what they paid, and that Epic was keeping features to use only in THEIR games, or something along those lines. Where the internet hatred comes in is pretty childish. I believe people see 'lawsuit' and pick a side. In this case mostly against Dyack because his game was overhyped and wasn't looking to live up to it's promise. This hatred was exacerbated by the fact that it seemed like other companies were using the Unreal Engine just fine, and Dyack looked like a whining baby.
