Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I've decided I don't really like listing the new forum posts on the front page -- not especially useful, IMO.
I love that part! lets me see new post quick.
Anybody else?
I guess my biggest issue is that it doesn't show new replies....
I think it helps me to see if I've missed any worth while posts. But not teribbly imortant. I really like the layout, same basic info with more graphics. Looks nice. In the middle maybe a small link to Retro Round-ups?

The forum posting thing would be cool, but I'm so used to this one it may take a while. I like what you are thinking. moving away from a bunch of text to a more visual design. dumb it the heck up for me. i just want to click on pictures. jk! But seriously I like it. :D

Keep the site in html, I know alot of people will get all messed up if you go flash on us. Otherwise I like the layout, especially the together retro update on the right!
The screen is just the typical width -- its just not very tall.
It will scale down to 800x600

I'll see if I can work in the forum stuff nicely

And I don't forsee ever using Flash -- I'm all HTML, CSS, and a touch a javascript.

Thanks -- I really want to play up Together Retro and make it easier to keep track of the current games.

I too would like to see the recent forum posts remain, in some fashion. That is the main pull with this site after all, isn't it? I mean, I discovered this site first through the articles, but those are sporadically posted. Frequently updated stuff, such as forum posts, are what people come back daily for. Seems like it should be prominent.

In fact I probably would have never clicked on this post had it not been on the front page...

Maybe, instead of a list of "New forum posts" (which doesn't take into account new posts after the thread is created) an evident link, also with a large clickable picture, to the Forums? Maybe even one that directly takes existing users to the "show new posts" search?

Ivo.

I'd say that the forum osts on the main page are very very important! That's how I browse the site usually.

Ok -- I'm gonna try to come up with a forum section on the front page, but maybe come up with an interface that lets you check both new threads (like it is now) and also new posts on all threads.

Coming up with something that is both elegant and useful is a challenge :)

I like the current configuration better than the proposed one, actually.

Well, like I mentioned before, I want to highlight Together Retro more -- and the graphic that is on the current on doesn't server a real purpose other than adding color.

I wonder if I could have a lofi version that can be set up as a preference for regular users.
Does that sound cool?
