It's crap like this that has the power to make you hate them retrospectively. I can't even play my SNES now without thinking about this retarded pantomime fiasco.

Why did I click on that? It's shit like this that makes me think of Nintendo as a fad company, not a video game company. I wonder if Sega would've fallen down the same path if they still developed consoles...

I don't think Sega would have done anything that "dumb" (for a lack of a better word)
Did anybody else think that it seems like a REALLY poor man's Rock Band? Those cheap Guitar Hero rip-offs you see in non-gaming stores makes this look good.

This makes me seriously worry about Nintendo's future. They seem to be moving further and further away from video games, and leaning more towards gimmicks in an interest to bring in new people to the market.

The problem is...those people aren't as reliable a customer base as the hardcore. I watch this and have to ask, what is Nintendo thinking? Really? Have they got some master plan for years down the line that none of us see coming? Or are they really concerned with the "Here and Now" of selling Wii units to old folks homes? Is there a method, or is it just about quick cash?

I don't know. I just don't know.

I think yall are reading a bit to deep into this. Its a cheap, and possibly bad, music simulator. Its not like they made a modern Zelda or a game following the plot of the Mario Brothers movie. Its a new franchise that looks like it could be alot of fun with alcohol mixed in - speaking of which I remember many saying the same about Konami when they first saw DDR. Now I am not trying to compare Wii Music with DDR in the sense that it will completely revitalize a section of gaming almost single handedly (Guitar Freaks did have some hand in it aswell). Does it mean Nintendo has lost it, not really.

As for ignoring the "hardcore" demographic. I find that the large amount of shmups means that soon it may become the hardcore console. Because what is more hardcore than a bullet hell shooter? Ok ok, that the shumper in me talking. Though really what is considered the "hardcore demographic" nowadays? I mean Ive been gaming since 86, own thirty some odd systems, and countless games, and have enjoyed the Wii the most out of all of the consoles released this generation. Does that mean I am not "hardcore" anymore, or somehow less hardcore?

I think the master plan is that many people grew up with the NES, SNES, and/or Genesis/Megadrive, but left gaming for one reason or another (the one I have heard the most is that it was/is uncool). Now they are drawn back by a simple "waggle" mechanic and are slowly becoming fans again. Gaming is on a critical edge right now. It has the possibility to be accepted as an artform like movies or novels, but it also has the possibility of having another major crash. While it may not be as big as the "E.T. crash of 83" it could be bad. I am just going to stop here so yall can rip my statements apart at your leisure.

All I'm gonna say here Fast is that I think alcohol was already involved when they decided to do that in public. It's like those guys who try to make classic Nintendo music in Mario Paint. It sounds good until somebody throws in the fire flower and all of a sudden everything just seems to go to Hell.

According to Craig on Screwattack, a lot of stuff shown like the guy moving his arms higher up to use the cymbals was faked. To use different drums you just use the d-pad. And no matter what you do, the music keeps playing. I seriously think Nintendo have done something terrible. I can't play on my Wii anymore, because I feel as if I'm supporting THAT. And also, I agree with fastbilly about shmups being the most hardcore games currently. Modern FPS games are casual tbh, I'd like to see the focus shift away from them as they seemed to have reached their limit. After saying that however, Fallout 3 looks kickass :D
