I hope that this is true and not a hoax. Chrono Trigger is one of the few RPGs that really held my attention and I enjoyed playing it a lot.

This and DQIX might convince me to get a DS again.
Is Dragon Quest IX announced as DS exclusive? Oo
Hopefully my girlfriend gets a DS someday : D
It's weird how on consoles that would generally interest me like the PS3 no interesting game comes out, and on another system that I do not want to buy like the DS all teh hot stuff gets released...

Yeah, due to the popularity of the DS in Japan, DQIX will be coming exclusively to it. It's kind of a shame seeing as how great DQVIII was on the PS2, with a DQ game that finally didn't feel dated in the visuals department when it was released. It's a step backwards for DQIX, but I guess that's the most viable platform for it in Japan right now.

This is really a pity, since I really like DQ8 and do not like handhelds with no possibility to play on a TV screen.

There is no 'yet,' and there never will be.
SE will never release it as an $8 DL when they can put a small team on a remake project, put it in a box, and charge $40 for it.
Still, this is good news. The DS is just a great little system to own.

I'd much rather have it on the DS.
Not only would I like it on the go, but its a great platform for RPGs. (item management, maps, etc on 2nd screen)
If I want to play it on the big screen, I can play the original or emulate.
