I own a Saturn, but I have never been able to grace the system with barely any of its beautiful 2-D games. I played Rayman which was indeed a very good looking game, the back drops in the game were very detailed. I've always to mod my Saturn so I can play Princess Crown

I have always preferred the Genesis but now that I think about it...All the games I grew up playing on Genesis were mostly ports or ported to the SNES. So for best 2-D console, I would definitely say the Super Nintendo with imo the best lineup of rpgs and platformers. I was never crazy about the games that pushed 16 bit consoles to their limit like Star Fox, which I thought looked horrible, even back then. Star Fox has no life, the game looks like it was made with a toddlers block set. I don't mean to affend any Star Fox fans, I just wasn't all that impressed with the game.

PC because it has the Shanghai Alice series... My real vote goes for GBA. While it may not have some of the jaw dropping titles that the Saturn or PC-FX have, it does have an amazing selection of most all genres and it is portable. Ofcourse you could say the DS, since it has the entire GBA library. but one could also counter with the Wii, since it just keeps getting more and more of the classics.

To me, the best handheld would have to be the Nintendo Game Boy, because of its longevity (1989-1998 for the original/pocket model) and the amount of games ever published for it (over 500). As far as 2D consoles, that would be a tie between the Sega Genesis (or Mega Drive) and the Sega Saturn, because both platforms had superior games. The Genesis/Mega Drive had Sonic The Hedgehog and the Saturn had a very good port of Quake.

I'll agree with the Neo-Geo having some of the best 2D graphics. Look at Garou: Mark of The Wolves, probably the nicest looking 2D fighter ever, and my personel favorite fighting game. The SNES has some great looking visuals also.
