I really think Dark Arms is a great game and the weapon customization is very cool. I have to agree that MotM is simply awesome and is indeed my favorite fighting game on any console/handheld as well.

Rockman Battle and Fighters isn't bad either, and of course the Metal Slugs (I think the 2nd is a big improvement).

Yes Dark Arms is excellent, if memory serves correctly its alot like Zelda 1 in gameplay, i havent played it in a while, but I do remember how fun it was.
I'm still not sure whether I'm a kid or a squid now.

Fill us in with what you find. Last I checked there wasn't anything up to speed, so to speak, but I'd certainly take advantage if there were.

You should just get one. The thumb stick can't be emulated!
