I just hope the Wii version looks palatable, as I still havent shelled out for a 1080p TV and a 360 yet...

Flak Beard wrote:This is definitely a step in the right direction. I like how they are mixing the gameplay from both the modern Sonic games and the original 2D sidescrollers. I personally enjoy the more recent Sonic games (especially Sonic Heroes), but a large majority would love to see a complete return to form. Looks like fans of both will be pleased with this one.

I'm also curious as to what the Wii version will look like compared to this trailer. You can usually tell when a 360/PS3 game is being developed side by side with the Wii, but Sonic Unleashed has that next-gen look to it. I've heard a separate team is working on the Wii version, so maybe it'll be a slightly different version of the game.
I liked Sonic Heroes and Shadow, Sonic 2006 was pretty meh.

The trailer looks good but I won't make any serious judgements on this game until the game comes out. Sega has toyed with me WAY too much for me to trust them. Seriously though, in order for the Sonic series to return to respectability, they need to focus on the 2.5 speed platforming and make sure it has firm roots in the classic Genesis games. Also, cutting the fat and getting rid of the tons of useless characters, stop using the horrible voice acting, and bring back the cool end of stage mechanical boss battles against Dr. Robotnik. I have hopes for this game and I am crossing my fingers, but I am worried that Sega could possibly trip up again.

I've actually been tempted to pick up Sonic 2006 as of late. If one could find it in the $5-$10 range, would it be worth it?

yes! The whole game is pretty mediocre but the mach-speed parts at the end of each act feel so fast and exciting its impossible not to love them.
