Debating on selling my collection...

It all depends on how much you play them now. If you never play them and they are just gathering dust, then sell them. If they are played often, keep them. If they are played sometimes, look into emulation, and sell the ones that you can emulate. It is up to you, and the mere fact that you are even considering selling your collection suggest that you are done with retro gaming on that scale. That being said, it only takes one moment of nostalgia to have you kicking yourself for selling.

You should keep them. Unless you NEED the money, what's the point? Current-gen games are getting worse overall (there's the occasional gem but for the most part it's all the same), and sooner or later you'll come back. Maybe you just feel like playing games that aren't so... old. I often play my current gen games for a week or two then get bored and go back to retro, then get bored with retro and repeat.
Maybe sell the Genesis and Atari since those are easy to emulate, but keep the rest; you'll miss them.

don't sell your videogames unless you really, really, really NEED the money. if thats the case you can buy them back later when you're better off.

otherwise, stash it or play occasionally. I kept one of racketboy's saturn mod chips and a bunch of saturn isos in a drawer for YEARS, buying saturn after saturn, all with 64pin drives that wouldnt work with the chip. Once i finally got one with a 32pin ic it was heaven, and i can play all my games now. Many times i considered selling my saturn stuff, but i would be so mad at myself right now if i had.

as a kid i always kept selling my games, but if i could have my collection from then i'd probably give up one of my internal organs.

Ive decided to sell everything but the Saturn and Dreamcast. Why? Because I just dont have fun with it anymore. Ill post it on here before listing on ebay however so expect that very soon.

A few years ago I found myself in a situation where I had accumulated a small collection of several systems that sort of spread the gamut in terms of generations and manufacturers. I just felt like my collection had no focus and was difficult to manage or approach with any real direction. I considered a couple of different options (pursue genres across many systems or focus on one brand and collect all of its generations).

I've always loved the Saturn and would never part with my collection, and the DC is a close second, so I went with option 2 and now I'm well on my way to having a Sega triumvirate (Genesis/Saturn/DC).

Just come up with some sort of plan for your collection, otherwise you'll end up disparately buying random stuff, and that can become frustrating.

Thats what was happening. So now Ive focused on my Playstation collection, considering its my favorite console 'series' of all time (actually its a tie w/ the saturn)

when life takes a hold of your attention in other directions, you'll find that most possessions are indeed useless if they aren't practical. good luck with selling everything, just don't make the mistake of buying it all back a year or two down the road.
