The best price I've seen for a PS3 was $330 (inc.tax)... Still wasn't cheap enough.
I concur 100%.
The warrenty and having a return policy is more valuable than the slight savings from the pawn shops.
I might buy a ps3 and the price would depend on the model and condition. If it was a 40 gig I'd pay 300-350 for it probably. I wouldn't buy a 360 though because of the RROD issue
I think I will get a PS3 eventually but at the moment there arent really any games that interest me. Possibly another year and there'll be some good games and not just the usual FPS and racers.

Every 360 you can get on store shelves now is a Falcon with HDMI. They don't suffer from the RRoD anymore.
I'd like to say that my 360 is still working since launch...

I wouldn't go that far, but I'd say that the chance of getting it less likely. There are rumors that a more efficient chip will be released around September that will run even cooler, so the failure rate should be next to zero for the "RRod". Now if they could only find a drive manufacturer that doesn't suck.....

Yeah but it's far from the "zomg all 360's will die within ten minutes of switching it on" opinion that most sony fanboys have...

Im the biggest Sony nerd of all time and I dont say itll die in 10 minutes, I had a 360, it was okay but it really is a shoddy peice of hardware, even the new ones with the Falcon in them.
I dont buy consoles that utilize optical drives from pawn shops because I realize there are abunch of people out there who can get some quick cash for their broken console because the shop will never test them. Places ive been have never let me test them instore, and always sell them as is. If you find a cart based system I would always go for it, but anything newer than PS2 id say spend your money on a new one, the warranty is worth the investment.
