Anybody ever have to open an eBay dispute?

I have opened a dispute claim about 5-6 times already. Only lost once and it was the most expensive one. Some punk sold me a messed up system and ebay sided with him. I don't know how they determine who is right or wrong. They never asked me for proof. They just sided with the seller. Right now, I have a dispute with some seller from the UK. I didn't receive my item for 3 weeks and emailed him. He said he will send it again. Two weeks later, still nothing. I opened a dispute claim and gave him 2 more weeks. After this week is over, if i don't have the item, I will escalate the claim and let ebay decide. I am tired of waiting.

I had to open a dispute once. I ordered a chunk load of DVDS and CDS, after a few weeks past, i sent a friendly email, and was told that i forgot to pay shipping. OOPS, i actually did. Payed the shipping, and another week past by. NOTHING. Contacted the seller again, and no reply. I begin to get concerned, because its been about a month now, and i start to get that funny feeling that i have been bamboozled. So i open up a dispute with PayPal, but its past the alotted time to open one. So i try through Ebay....dont hear a word from them.
Miraculously after about 2months i get a package in the mail with my stuff in it.
I didnt get any feeback from the seller...maybe he died?

I give a seller two weeks. If it hasn't showed up and the seller hasn't contacted me within two weeks I file a claim. Had to do it three times so far, and I've always got my money back. I still have 100% positive feedback. Make sure you file wil paypal cause you never know about ebay. Get insurance if available. Also I try to avoid the poeple who sell huge quantities of movies, cell phones, toy ponies, and what not. They usually don't care, it's just business to them and they ignore you. If they just sell games, especially vintage stuff, I've always had pretty good luck.

All buyers feedback ratings from now on will only consist of positive feedback. The new rule changes, which take effect in a couple weeks time, allow sellers the option of only giving positive feedback to buyers. So no more retaliatory neutral or negative feedback from any seller.

When you pay through PayPal, insurance isn't an issue since you're covered by the PayPal buyer protection program up to the limit stated on the listing. So in effect, regardless of whether you bought insurance or not, if the dispute is found in your favor, PayPal will always refund the buyer to the limit of their protection. Insurance would ultimately be for the sellers protection, not the buyers.

I find that the most pleasant and smooth transactions are usually from sellers with feedback of around 50-500. Those types of sellers are usually still relatively new to eBay and are very eager to please the buyer and more often than not will answer any questions in a friendly and prompt manner.

Yeah, i read that. But i'm saying don't worry about the positive or negative feedback. Take action reguardless of the consiquences from the seller. If they value their own feedback, than they will do the right thing. This new system will just make it harder for sellers to tell if the person bidding is a crappy buyer.

I was just sharing my experience. As far as insurance goes yes it does help the buyer more, but using shipping insurance keeps you from having to go through this whole process which is annoying and time consuming.

ok. thats pretty much what i'm saying. But buying from gamers who know what it is, how to ship it and what information you want to know is my preference.

this feels like one of those "Weekly Star" acticles where they break up what you say and make you sound like an idiot.

I had to open a dispute once. Someone from Argentina contacted me about shipping for Shenmue II, before the item was going to end. He had no feedback, and won the item. He kept telling me it was hard for him to open a paypal account in Argentina, so I told him step by step how to do it. He said that he was going to send a money order instead. After that he stopped answering an messages I sent him. I waited for about 3 weeks, nothing. I opened a dispute (which I won) and I saw that he bought Shenmue II from another seller and didn't pay

That was not my intention at all. I'm sorry if it came across that way. I just thought to share a few points WRT my eBay experiences. Sorry again.

Lost about £26 to someone I bought a DVD off that never sent it and wouldn't respond to anything, and I was too late to start a paypal dispute. I did a Ebay one and closed it so they should look into the seller, but whatever the case I probably won't ever get that money back.. =/
