Don't forget about Shadow of the Ninja. Great Natsume platformer. A little short, with lots of slowdown and flicker, but awesome all the same.

A Few More I Should Have Added Before...

Post by timewarpgamer »

Akumajō Densetsu
-The Japanese version of Castlevania III has such incredible sound; it's ridiculous.
Blaster Master
-Still one of the best run 'n gun meets adventure games ever.
Boulder Dash
-A computer port that provides brilliant puzzle-maze gameplay.
Crisis Force
-The greatest shooter that no one every heard of (outside of Japan).
Gargoyle's Quest II: The Demon Darkness
-An awesome platformer with RPG elements; SO underrated!
Jackal
-Probably the best run 'n gun after Contra, and no one knows about it!
Vice: Project Doom
-So refreshing, so genre-bending: racing meets platformer meets bad a$$.

Thanks TWG~ I'll check out some of those Japanese ones tonight (rather if the local store has any at a decent price).
And yeah, I have Castlevania III on the NES but recently I fired it up under an emu (I can't remember which) that supported the Famicom's pass through for special sound chips (like in CV III) and WOW is an understatement for how nice that game sounds. Truly amazing.
