yah Ninja Gaiden for sms was way worse than the nes verison..even if it has better graphicsJakanden wrote:The problem is that most of the good SMS games were available elsewhere in better versions.
Games That Defined The Master System
Genesis and TG16 versions better, but not really NES
Most SMS games that were also on NES, the SMS graphics are better. Rampage and Double Dragon were way better and closer to the Arcade than NES as two examples. The problem is most of Sega's arcade games and Sonic were all available on Genesis with much better graphics. The Wonderboy games are the best on the system and they're available on the PC Engine and Genesis although sometimes under different titles, Fantasy Zone is on several other systems too.
Phantasy Star, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Zillion, 3D games, and Golden Axe Warrior are probably the best games available nowhere else. Another trump it had over NES was AMAZING coin-op conversions of R•Type and Rastan that were SMS and arcade only in the states.

Hard for me to get into 8-bit games, but I think I got a Powerbase Adapter for my Genesis just for the original Phantasy Star ... that was an amazing game for its time and it's still fun today. The only other games I kept for it were Sonic, Chuck Rock 2 and Flash. There were a couple good light gun titles, but can't remember the titles ....
