Thanks for the help everyone, it's helped me out a lot, as I've gotten much better. I also found it gets easier when I don't stoop to the computer AI level of chaos and panic and just stay calm and attack it during it's mistakes. I've unlocked Kraken and Valgas and most of the extras, still working on unlocking Final Valgas but I'll get there.

a tactic that works for me is that i always try to make sure my first hit is one that involves swinging off a pole and kicking. for some reason it always works like a charm and it buys me some time to nab an object while the opponent is down.
