Look closer and you'll see Japanese writing. It would have English all over it because the Japanese think English is cool.

As far as them existing, they do and are fairly well known in Neo-Geo circles. After some digging I see that I was 100% off in the wrong direction. While they're hard to differentiate by shape you can tell a slimline vs. a regular one from a photo:

The first hardware version "Color" is written in a block font. The second hardware revision (a.k.a. the slimline) is written in a cursive font.

So actually what I said before: The sonic bundle, Hanshin Tigers model, were 1st run NGPC. The one in this auction is a slimline.

Thanks for the help. Are these fairly hard to come by? I can't find any more listed on Ebay.

Absolutely agree that the control stick on the NGPC is the best out there. Very responsive!

They are slightly more rare then the regular one. Again, in case it hasn't already been demonstrated by me being repeatedly wrong, I have 2 NGPC - I love them, but I've never been fanatic about it... so it's not my area of expertise.

From what I've read, you will see fewer of them for auction for at least 2 reasons:
1) They weren't released in every region. The US ones (I think) are mostly if not all the 1st hardware. Ditto for the UK. So it's not the majority version.
2) The difference is subtle enough, unlike the PSP and PSP Slim for instance, that many people might not realize they have one. This auction is for a NGPC Slim, but the listing doesn't say anything about it. You can tell by the slightly different body and the font of the word "color".

So you can find them, you just might have to look at the pictures more than the auction title. Hope that helps and hope I've cut down on the mistakes! ha ha.

Thanks NotBlaine for the clarification. I'll need to check mine to which one it is. It's rather easy to tell them apart with the font trick, but other than that, how much thinner are they, and what other noteworthy differences they have (the screen is better?)

Yeah, a big thanks from me too! I've always liked the NGP a lot, but my collection is definitely still in the works. I have an original b/w NGP and a Silver NGPC that I just got modded with a front light. I'm wanting to get my hands on a slim and have it modded as well.

That collection that was posted is awesome.

So that's a slim as well, eh?

Too bad it's part of a $300 package...but then again, what an excuse to get all of these other games!
