I was considering including retail version special editions if they included notable DLC you'd have to buy separately (digital only) vs just a custom in-game skin, etc ... and/or exclusive cover art/packaging.

On that same note as Pokemon figurine, I was thinking of Conduit 2 (Wii) limited Edition that was a GameStop exclusive with holographic style cover, physical art book extra, & in-game skins:

GameStop and SEGA Announces Details on GameStop Exclusive Conduit 2 Limited Edition

So it is a box art variant with an art book. I just thought that quickly got into all the many recent special editions made to sell pre-orders. Some of which now actually don't even include the game itself  :?

Do we have to include the 3x Burger King original Xbox / 360 combo titles? They were technically retail... er, fast food ... exclusives :D
They were not exclusive to Gamestop in PAL. I imported them to the US from Gamestation online store.

I think Soul Bubbles (NDS) was also a Toys ‘R Us exclusive.

The only way to get Trine 1-3 on cartridge was through a Gamestop exclusive release.

There are also exclusive cover variants of some games that were exclusive to physical retailers like Best Buy and that one physical store for Limited Run Games (for those of you who think LRG is just an online store).

Great one one Trine. Will add. Didn't know about these.

@segata - I didn't word my Conduit 2 post well. I initially thought that was a Gamestop exclusive, but looks like only limited edition was. I got this one release day.

Not following last bit. Did you get the BK games from Gamestop in PAL region? I hate Burger King (& McDs) so I missed these. Pretty crazy they're actually both an OGX & 360 game on 1 disc (vs being sneaky backwards compat OGX to 360).

Speaking of food games ... were the Doritos games digital titles only?
