This is the only good MMORPG out there, probably because it does away with most of what ruins the genre. I highly recommend it to fans of wRPGs and even jRPGs. It actually tells stories (with cutscenes in primary quests, even). Jeremy Soule does the music. The graphics are impressive and balanced, on a fine-tuned engine. The pace is super fast. There is very little grind, as it has a max lvl of 20, and it's more focused on strategic use of your hand-picked skillset, and your equipment. It also does a good job of getting people together for quests or any activity. The PVP system is also as good as it gets.
Your description of GW makes me wonder why it isn't more popular - and why I haven't tried it yet. Once again, you get to the point and inform me of something I should look into. Thanks.

Ivo.

It's because it's not a 'real' MMORPG per se. It's a series of Hubs and the entire world is an instance that is generated for whoever is in your party when you leave the hub. It's very similar to PSO but in a pseudo medieval setting. It's worth picking up, it's very cheap. It just tires pretty quick due to the low level cap. PvP is apparantly where most players play. Interestingly creating a PVP character gives you decent armor and level 20 from the start. It's the stuff you unlock (skills/elite skills, weapon/weapon addons etc) during the main PvE quest that you can use to improve your PvP character. The only problem is the sheer lack of decent players to play with in PvP. Your other team is usually extremely good or painfully rubbish. Theres no real matchmaking. It makes PvP quite hit and miss.

Having said that I hate playing in groups where I have to rely on other people. I'm shit at counter-strike unless im playing with trusted friends. So I guess the way PvP works in GW ain't my cup of tea really.

There's also the fact that the game is stupidly hard to solo with since they nuked every single method of creating a soloing monk.

How many years has it been since you played Guild Wars? Most of your complaints aren't valid anymore.

It probably is the most underused class, but Mesmer/Elementalist is still quite popular, obviously due to Mesmer's casting speed boost.

Last time I played was when Nightfall came out. I played until I had all my heroes at level 20. So about 1 or 2 years ago i think? Maybe not sure really.

Had an active subscription for 3 years. Quit around christmas 07.
Possible I may try the next xpac.

Easily the best game ever made to date. Love the lore and the devs sense of humor.
