They may go back up in price though for the limited editions. Well I hope they do because I have both and they're both in mint condition. They're locked away in a firesafe box in my house so that they don't get damaged. I've never played em. Just hope it's worth it.
Games should be played not put behind a display case to be gawked at like the museum. Besides, if you want to make money, I think investing in video game is not a really good idea. Mutual fund is the way to go. Kidding. I know nothing about business, just video games. :P

The Europe/Japanese version of Ico was different? I bought Ico when I first got my PS2, and after six hours of play, there was nothing left to do. Once you beat it, that was it. What did the other versions include?

Sorry for going off topic, by the way.

Yeah bought them both on day of release. They're still sealed. I had a feeling they would get rare. I have 2 copies of each btw, I have them both in reprint as well, thought I might as well pick up the plastic boxed ones when they were cheap just so I could play the games.

I agree that games should be played but I always look after all my games anyway. It's just the delicate nature of these ltd editions warrents the use of putting it away out of sunlight so that the covers don't fade or the box doesn't get torn. All my original complete N64 games are kept in a drawer in their own compartments so that they don't get damaged for example. I'm really anal when it comes to this kind of thing. It took a lot of self control when I was younger to keep all my games in tip top condition.

I would agree. I will be touching more on this topic in an upcoming blog post, but now that people know that games have potential to become valuable, you will have people stashing them or at least taking care of them. That will actually keep them from becoming valuable because there will be more sealed copies out there.

It's just like the way baseball cards were. There weren't as many printed and moms eventually threw their kids' old cards out into the trash. That's why all those old cards are worth so much. I grew up thinking my 1988 baseball cards would someday be worth the same amount, but my then, people collected them for value, not so much just for fun. In doing so, all those cards are basically worthless.

I've been a collector of many things over my 27 years and I've seen how these phenomenons work out in different hobbies. Greed pretty much ruins any hobby.

The only notable difference is a few puzzles being different, an extra light saber as a secret weapon, second player controlling Yorda, and you can eat watermelon at the end with your beautiful savior. If you get the limited edition, then you also get 4 extra postcards plus a neat casing. That's about it, but I think if you are a fan, then that is the definitive copy to have. Besides, the US cover is so hideous to look at.

I can understand why you would think that. However, I am just saying that I don't actually care for making monies off of games. I do have a collector's mentality and do try my best to take good care of my games. However, I never have the intention of saving them up to sell them off later, although I did sell off a third of my collection to pay for school a couple of years back.

I bet Disagea, Disagea 2, and almost anything produced by NIS will become more valuable. I managed to Disagea 2 for $15 new at circuit city in October and loved it. I beat it and wanted to get the first one until I found out it goes for about $50 used.
