Quick question: Is the GBA SP backwards compatible with GBC-only games?
yes and the stretching is good, but playing it in 1:1 is possible, the pixels look better.
The stretching is not good, under any circumstances. And again, playing at 1:1 is still using just a little portion of the screen. The games are just better suited for GBC units.
But since the GBA screen is bigger, aren't you still playing at the same size screen you would be for a GBC? Because the GBC screen is quite small, I doubt the letter box mode with the GBA is smaller than that.

Not true. The GBA screen is 2.9 inches, while the GB/GBC screen is 2.6. But when you play GB games on a GBA at 1:1 pixel ratio, you're only using about 2.15 inches of the screen. (I just measured).

Sadly nobody answered the question that started the topic. My interest is for collecting purposes. A guy is selling a yellow GBC with a damaged screen, no battery cover and no games for $10. I bought a kiwi GBC boxed with instruction for $15 some months ago, so I know he's mad but just out of curiosity how much would a screen and cover add up.
