Plenty of Nintendo consoles and handhelds still run flawlessly today. Take your pick.
Shit, my Atari Lynx is still kicking around. It’s a battery guzzling thing but still.
Sure I’m a fanboy - of video games. Life is too short to stick with one console or company. But it sounds like you’ve got some underlying issues with Nintendo or something.
Pretty much does come off that way at a base level at least. Attack Nintendo for being as bad as Apple, GM, whatever else of total contempt lists like EA -- then take their age old competitor as an example of high quality standards and creating goods that last. The company who on a console side introduced us to a consistent world in the 90s of both throwing out useless high priced accessories with questionable to dismissive (32x) support, but also when something went foul (Saturn) the result was to give up, and also wipe the slate clean dispatching the Genesis and Game Gear which were making money along with it tossing millions under the bus. The Saturn and the SCD have been having problems perhaps not yet wide scale but with plastic cogs, belts, cracking belts, laser issues. I'd put a Gamecube up against any disc based system before or after for a test of durability many online (though unprofessional) tests have shown in being able to take a hell of a lot of abuse and work.
You call fanboy but ignore evidence, cherrypick which works, then call out everyone who won't agree with you. That IS a fanboy, or at least the evidence of a delusional mind.
Hell even the admin there has a good point, let's talk to Sega about their caps issue. How many Nintendo handhelds from the 80s and 90s still work compared to Sega, in particular over both cap issues but also to be fair, screen related failures. Hell the Sega system is as lousy as the NEC TE/GT for screen and caps, and the Lynx it's somewhere in the middle. I may have started on Nintendo but I branched into Sega, NEC, SNK, and Sony -- not much loyalty here anymore given if the Switch were a console i would not have bought it after the Wii/WiiU branding issues over that miserable decade of issues.
