I have no problem buying games for TR. I bought Type-0 just for that. And I bought Ducktales Remastered for it the month before. I'll gladly buy something for March. My own personal problem - which will be weird to you and others - is just that the only console I have now is Xbox One. I've gotten to a point in my life where I'm just not keen on owning a bunch of consoles and collections anymore. And honestly the way that the hobby fits into my life nowadays, I'm just content with a single console and nothing else. I don't really expect anyone to understand, just is what it is. But my participation in these months basically comes down to if there's games accessible to me within these categories. If I can find something that's 'permissible,' then fantastic. If not then I guess I'll have to sit the month out.

I'm pretty sure DQ is totally out of the question.

I might be able to find a 90's RTS that's playable on Xbox One? I'm not sure.

Eighties Ladies would be way easier if it was Nineties Ladies, haha. Again, I might be able to find something that fits if I do some digging. Does Swordquest count? Haha.

Koei I'm not sure about. Maybe?

Mechs I know I can do Virtual-On Cybertroopers or VOOT as they were released on XBLA.

I sold my Shield. I just have a cheapo Kindle. I also took apart my gaming PC after remodeling my game room earlier this year. I technically have access to some games on the Kindle and my laptop, but really the reason why I've switched back to just playing everything on a console is that I just kind of wasn't having fun playing things on tablet/PC anymore. I can't really explain my personality type. I'm kind of OCD about things I guess?

You might not know but I went years where I played ONLY GB/GBC/GBA/Gamecube stuff. Then I went years where I played ONLY PS1/2/3/P stuff. Then years where I played nothing but SCD/Sat/DC stuff. Then it was PC/Android only. I just go through these (long) phases where I just kind of follow whatever my mind gets interested in hobby-wise. So this is where I'm at now. I'm not saying that I couldn't figure out a way to play games on a tablet or whatever... just that I don't really want to. What I'm into right now is when I'm done w/ dinner and chores and whatever, I sit on my couch and play games on the Xbox. It's just what comforts me right now.

I'm not trying to be (intentionally) stubborn or anything. And as I've said if I can find ANY games that fit the winning category that I can play that way, then I absolutely will.

Depending on your definition of "RTS" and whether you'll allow more simulation and managerial aspects, the 1997 game Constructor did get an HD release on Xbox One last year.

oooh I was totally forgetting about this! I would play this in a second, and will probably vote for RTS with that in mind.

It was only released in Japan if I recall. Either way it's an original 2016 game, so definitely not retro. I can justify remakes, but not an entirely new entry like this.

I figured I'd throw my two cents into the pile. I voted for 90s RTS and Koei Classics. Why? Because I liked RTS games back in the 90s, and I'm rubbish at Nobunaga's Ambition but want to get better, that's why.

If tactical games are allowed instead of more strategic base builders, then I may try my hand at getting Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat to work.

I do mean in Europe, yes! We got the DQ Monsters games and Dragon Quest Swords, plus Boom Street (surely that's not 10 years old already though?). We didn't get Rocket Slime or Torneko though. I'd prefer to buy a physical copy of a game I'm playing where possible, so it'd be portable titles for me if this wins.

I do own the unfortunately no longer available Dragon Quest Wars for DSiWare too, which is an interesting one.

I'm trying to keep my backlog down, so choosing from games I already own is helpful for that. I'm not against buying games to meet the categories though - I plan to try and join in with every Together Retro this year! I AM trying to avoid forking out for another big Strategy title or RPG though, as I have about 70 games of those genres in my unbeaten pile already

Engaging in retro gaming events with an Xbox One as your sole conduit makes things... challenging. However, I'm confidant we can find something for you to play no matter which choice wins.

oh I don't disagree about the challenge. Though in some way that part makes it interesting to me as well.

I actually really hope RTS wins now.
