Games with shared universes (, a thread where we talk about)
Re: Games with shared universes (, a thread where we talk ab
I could imagine a shared universe for Dragon Age and Mass Effect that worked something like Shadowrun / Earthdawn. Earthdawn is the ancient history and Shadowrun is the future.

DA can just be a different planet and less advanced. Also to be fair Kingdoms of Amalur also has Mass Effect Armor so it pays tribute as well.

There's a scientist kid in Final Fantasy X-2 whose name is Shinra. That could just be a playful nod, but late in the game he explicitly mentions researching technology to draw energy from planets. A few other things he says also make it pretty clear he's intended to be the progenitor of the Shinra corporation from Final Fantasy VII. So, yeah, it's cannon that FFX and FFVII take place in the same universe.
In the GBA remake of Final Fantasy II the son of Ricard Highwind, the last of the dragoons, who had previously been nameless is explicitly named Kain. I guess this is supposed to say that FFII and FFIV take place in the same world, but the geography and history just don't work. So I took it more as just a fun reference.

I had read about the connections between FF VII and X as well. To be honest, even though the mainline FF games don't really reference each other, I guess I always just kind of assumed that all the FF games WERE in the same universe. But that doesn't seem to be the popular thought so I guess I was wrong. Still kind of weird to me though haha.

Kinda-sorta, but usually I think they consider them different realms or worlds if you go by stuff like Dissidia, Record Keeper, Theatrhythm, World Of Final Fantasy or others that pull in characters from all of them.noiseredux wrote:I had read about the connections between FF VII and X as well.
