It's pointless. You don't even have to register a serial number, it can be anything. I just tried lol and it worked.

Well Sega has come out to say that it wasn't them who started this:

Kind of sucks. Don't feel bad if you got tricked, it was posted all over the official Sega boards, Seganerds.com, NeoGAF, (and sadly me posting it here for you Rackboy regulars). No one seen it coming, and I honestly apologize even though as far as I could tell, this was coming at all sides from different very trusted sources :(

http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20080 ... aiall-game

A very rough engrish translation from the 2chan boards:
Sega has stopped producing in 2001 video game machine "Dreamcast" official-sounding site is a site
Sega said, "with no management, to give consumers a misunderstanding Could ", it cautioned.

The site was once a Sega Dreamcast's official site has been used as the same address,
Sega Dreamcast and unauthorized use of the logo, "You still have a Dreamcast?"
And questions. Home from the net sales of Sega's site "SEGADAIREKUTO" links
There is also the site and has been making The company already owns no address, the owner's inquiry
, And its response to the study.

Im guessing that they are just going to sell off the email addresses to some company and we'll all get more spam than we already have. I have 7+ email accounts, Im not too worried myself, but I do feel bad for people who used a main email account and/or work email account. Assholes whoever did this.
