Re: Fun things only found in the manual
I never understood why Capcom always had the Captain Commando character as a major part of their marketing. I never saw him in a video game until the Captain Commando arcade beatemup came out years later. Was he purely a marketing mascot, or was there some major Captain Commando game in the '80s that I didn't know about?

And later, a different rendition of Captain Commando could be found inside the manuals of Capcom games:
Is there some story behind this character, or is he just some odd marketing decision? And where did the awesome alien monkey on his shoulder come from? Whatever the story is, I'm glad Captain Commando took time out of his busy space-piloting schedule to sign my Willow manual.

Captain Commando was Capcom's mascot in their earlier years. Hence why his name is CAPtain COMmando. I guess the guys at the company just had enough of a soft spot for him to give him his own game eventually. EVERY Japanese company, institution, etc. needs a mascot: It's just a Japanese cultural thing. I'd compare him to kind of how Sony is with their mascot Toro, as, other than in Playstation All-Stars, I've never seen him reference in American marketing.J T wrote:I never understood why Capcom always had the Captain Commando character as a major part of their marketing. In regards to the Star Fox stuff though, I wonder who wound up with those sick puppets in the end. Miyamoto probably kept them or something. Maybe he has whole rooms of his castle/house filled with old Nintendo stuff X3
