Oh, huh, I didn't realize the XRGB3 output VGA in addition to DVI (I never owned one).
I mean, hey, if it works, it works! That's just kinda lame that your RGB input is broken or something.
Did anyone get the HD Retrovision Cables?
Re: Did anyone get the HD Retrovision Cables?
Or it could be my SNES is unhappy in circuit land that only manifests on the RGB output (which would explain why I can't get the component cables to work). In fact, after adding that parenthetical that makes me suspect that's the issue. If I wanted to try and fix it I'd have to gut another SNES and put that into my existing shell, as my shell is super sexy painted.

So just confirming, this cable for the Genesis works on your regular Model 2 - no mods or anything else necessary?

No mods; it's all built into the cable. My setup is a 32x plugged into a Genesis 2 on top of a Sega CD 2.

Yep, just the cable, nothing else needed. The cool thing is that most retro consoles will output +5v with the AV signals, which was used for external RF modulators back in the day. The HD Retrovision cables use it to power the circuitry inside the cable, when normally you would need another power adapter (like if you were using an RGB to YPbPr box).

This is why I want them - far superior video quality from three platforms as I have a 32x plugged into a Genesis 1 on top of a Sega CD 2.MrPopo wrote:No mods; it's all built into the cable. My setup is a 32x plugged into a Genesis 2 on top of a Sega CD 2.

I have an external converter box for my Genesis. So it's a little messy, what with the SCART cable and the box. This is certainly a cleaner solution, but a bit more expensive as well.

I got both the SNES and Genesis cables from the kickstarter. Very pleased with them.
I'm running the Genesis one out of my 32x on a model 1 genesis and model 1 cd.
I had run both using euro scart to a scart switch then to a scart->component box and I think they look just as good as that on my Sony HD CRT (and it freed up a space on the switch for my dreamcast toro).
