You can now buy purporse-made PPUs capable of RGB for a moderate price. No need to destroy a Playchoice10 anymore

As soon as my move and WDW trip are done I'll be ordering one of these. My old tube tv isn't working well anymore and if I'm going to use it on my LCD HDMI would be better then Composite. Plus I wouldn't need to hunt down a four score and it has an FDS port. It might be a bit expensive but no doubt that it's going to be a quality machine.

I'm probably going to get one as well. Though I will have to wait and see how this month plays out first before buying. I already preordered FFXV which comes out Sept 30th and I may have to drop a wad of cash on a NAS soon. I've wanted to RGB mod my NES for a while but I just never got around to it due to the cost/hassle. This is just so much easier and the price is fairly competitive with the going rate of the mod+installation. Once you take into account all the other features you get, it becomes even more attractive.

Why would I get this when I can get the Retron5?
You have to understand that some people DO NOT WANT the Retron5.

The Playchoice10 thing has been depreciated by the NES RGB:
http://etim.net.au/nesrgb/ ($77 USD)
There's also the Hi-Def NES:
https://www.game-tech.us/mods/original-nes/ ($120)
I've been wanting to get the NESRGB board for a while now, but I figured I'd wait for the Hi-Def NES and AVS to come out first. Now I don't know what I'm gonna do!
I want the NESRGB board so I can get S-Video for my CRT. But GamerTech announced that, since sales were so good, they're considering an analog add-on board for the Hi-Def NES. The Hi-Def NES looks a lot better for HDTV than the NESRGB + Framemeister.
The AVS is the more expensive option, but it also has a Famicom slot. If I mod my NES, hell, even if I mod one NES with Hi-Def NES and another with NESRGB, my Famicom will still only be composite output. But if I got the AVS, that wouldn't get me analog AV output for my CRT. So IDK, I need to think about it some more. I might want to get the NESRGB just for CRT, then get either the Hi-Def NES or AVS strictly for HDTV. I have a FDS RAM adapter and a FDSstick, along with a few Famicom carts, so the AVS would definitely be nice for the FC slot.

I'm guessing like all of his other products, it will only be available for purchase on RetroUSB.com.

Wish I had the money to throw at this. Maybe someday I will, but not today.

My birthday is in 2 days. Anybody want to gift one to me? ; ) Actually, if we can afford it, I might buy one and that's my birthday. Use the beautiful original NES I got from jmbarnes for Secret Santa July up here in the game room and put an AVS downstairs in the living room... So many options!
