To make it interesting on SNES, I'm going to limit it to the same game makers who backed the NES one that really exists (Nintendo, Square-Enix, Capcom and Konami.)
- Chrono Trigger
- Contra III
- Disney's Aladdin (if Disney would be ok, Capcom game)
- Donkey Kong Country
- Donkey Kong Country 2
- Donkey Kong Country 3
- Earthbound
- Final Fantasy II
- Final Fantasy III
- Final Fight
- F-Zero
- Gradius III
- Kirby Super Star
- Kirby's Dream Land 3
- Legend of the Mystical Ninja
- Legend of Zelda Link to the Past
- Mega Man X
- Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse (if Disney ok with it, Capcom game)
- Pilotwings
- Sim City
- Street Fighter II (or Super or Alpha 2)
- Sunset Riders
- Super Castlevania IV
- Super Ghouls N Ghosts
- Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World
- Super Mario Kart
- Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
- Super Metroid III
- Super Punch-Out!!
- Yoshi's Island: Super Mario World 2
If sublicensed stuff fails (Aladdin and Mickey), then something like King of Dragons, Demon's Crest or Saturday Night Slammasters also from Capcom.
I wanted to toss TMNT4 on there, but it won't happen as Activision owns it now, not Konami so it's a wash. This entire list I'd gamble would be 80-90% accurate if they did a SNES one and had the same 3 backers outside Nintendo. Like the NES one 13~ games are 3rd party but majority are Nintendo.
30-Game Console Challenge
Re: 30-Game Console Challenge
Nice Tanooki. Sunset Riders, Gradius III, and Mega Man X were all some of the games on your list that were among the very final things I cut out of my list to bring it down to 30. I also wanted to list Super Mario Allstars + Super Mario World as one title, but I decided it was actually putting things over the 30 game limit, even though there was a single cartridge. I also tried to avoid picking more than one title when there were sequels on the SNES.

Ha, yeah, I'm apparently bad at thread titles.Exhuminator wrote:When I first read the name of this thread, I thought it was going to be about taking the challenge to beat every single game that comes with the NES Classic in under a year.
Re: 30-Game Console Challenge
Don't forget that Konami owns Hudson and Squenix owns Taito. And Sunsoft was an early supporter of the Virtual Console, so I wouldn't rule those companies out.
Re: 30-Game Console Challenge
I'm seeing some really solid stuff here.
At some point, I'm going to put down a list of my own, too.
Re: 30-Game Console Challenge
OK, so, I've decided that since this unit is likely a stripped down Wii core, that anything that runs well on the VC could be done. I would want to see a TurboGrafx-16 mini (close cooperation with Konami required, since they own Hudson). Here are the 30 titles I would expect to see represented on the system. (Assuming Irem, Data East, and Namco titles would not be available since Hudson doesn't own them and didn't publish them to the VC. Ys I & II was published to VC by Falcom, but I suspect they would play along.)
Bonk's Adventure
Bonk's Revenge
Bonk's Big Adventure
Military Madness
Super Star Soldier
Soldier Blade
Final Soldier
Air Zonk
Blazing Lazers
Bomberman '93
J.J. & Jeff
Victory Run
Alien Crush
Devil's Crush
Chew Man Fu
Cratermaze

Power Golf
World Class Baseball
World Sports Competition
New Adventure Island
Dragon's Curse
Dungeon Explorer
Dynastic Hero
Monster Lair
Neutopia
Neutopia II
Ys Book I & II
Gate of Thunder
Lords of Thunder
Would also love to see Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, but that's highly unlikely since it is an untranslated JPN release.

Keep in mind we have best 30-game threads for some consoles already.

Re: 30-Game Console Challenge
Yes, but those 30 lists don't limit themselves to titles available in the Virtual Console under the assumption Nintendo might make this technology available to a few others.ExedExes wrote:Keep in mind we have best 30-game threads for some consoles already.
