A gamegear on TV would be like the ultimate Sega Master System. Better color palettes, and more readily available game cartridges.

Tell me about it. I am only missing about 25-30 carts for a complete. There is nothing really too expensive on it at all. Unless mega Man has gone stupid in price. Grabbed that early though. I think I actually got it on here for 25 or so a few years back.samsonlonghair wrote:A gamegear on TV would be like the ultimate Sega Master System. Are there any other carts north of 20 bucks on the system?

I love the Mega Everdrive - handles Genny and SMS libraries without issue. I always hoped/figured since it did SMS that GG would work also but alas, not a match.
I'd say about 5 years ago I rescued my Game Gear and collection (still in that over-the-shoulder case too) from my parents. My original system still worked and there were some newer titles that I guess my parents and younger brother had picked up along the way (Sonic Triple Trouble was one), presumably years after the handheld was discontinued (must have been at college).
I played a little X-Men, the screen was still decent enough and pilfered through my old favorites like Joe Montanta Football, Majors Pro Baseball, Columns, Streets of Rage, NBA Jam, and then put it on top of the one shelf in my gaming room.

Are all of those NTSU-U?
It is strange that you never hear of anyone going for a full set of these. It would be cheaper than NES LOL

A cursory google search confirms you are right. Strange how a bit of misinformation can persist so long. One would imagine that the admins at vgpc would have spotted and corrected this long ago.retrosportsgamer wrote:Contra for the Game Gear is a myth.
Re: How is your Game Gear gaming going?
So I decided to play a few GG games last night to test the waters on what all I want to pick up personally. I stumbled across the Japanese exclusive "Griffin", which was a cool vertical shooter. After looking it up, it looks like it's a pretty expensive title unfortunately. Has anyone else played it?
I also can't imagine playing a lot of the fast paced action games/shmups on the stock screen, though. I'm going to look into getting an LCD replacement kit off of AtariAge forums (depending on the cost). The adapter board for the replacement LCD features RGB output directly from the board, which would make getting video out super convenient.
ALSO: Last Action Hero for the GG is rare? I got a copy at a game store yesterday for $3. He was checking the price on the cart, and made a comment that one was $150 and another was $5. What's the deal with that game on the console?

There's a CIB version that went for the $168 you see on VGPC. Loose carts go for what you paid.ALSO: Last Action Hero for the GG is rare? I got a copy at a game store yesterday for $3. I can attest to the fact that Crystal Warriors kicks ass.
I also enjoy the two Phantasy Star titles on GG. Any of you duders play those?
