My Blog: 366 Games To Play Before You Die
Re: My Blog: 366 Games To Play Before You Die
Thanks dude. I have lots of Sega stuff to post, as Mega Drive --> Saturn --> Dreamcast is mostly what I grew up with (although I didn't buy a Saturn till around 2001/2002ish, I still played it loads in its heyday as I had a friend with one).

This next one if my favourite Indie release on the Dreamcast ever. Released in 2012 and just an all round great game.

Gunlord was one I always intended to check out, but also sort of wrote off as just a Turrican clone. But I didn't realize it had the Metroid-ball-thing in it. And some of those screenshots just look great.
Re: My Blog: 366 Games To Play Before You Die
Haha it's a complete rip off of Turrican. I love it though!

So, today's game is an interesting, albeit flawed, Action Adventure game for the Mega Drive/Genesis, developed by Treasure. A little like Zelda.

Today's game is Mario Party 2, imo the best Mario Party game.

Re: My Blog: 366 Games To Play Before You Die
Ever wanted to play a Sega Simulator/RPG made by Sega, where you take over and run Sega's business for them? This was a parody, almost a joke at their own expense, showing Sega were not afraid to laugh at themselves, released exclusively in Japan towards the end of the Dreamcast's lifespan.

Re: My Blog: 366 Games To Play Before You Die
hmm, so you're saying it IS playable without knowing Japanese? I've held off for years in hopes that the fan-translation project ever gets finished.
Re: My Blog: 366 Games To Play Before You Die
Well, I first played the game back in around 2007, I think it was and I enjoyed it so much that I bought a legitimate copy shortly after.
There is a translation guide and walkthrough online (I think there might be a couple) and it will get you through the game. The only problem is during the 'simulation' parts where you must work on new games. They're so random that there's no translations out there for those parts and I can't work out really what I'm supposed to be doing. I've literally got through them often by just randomly pressing buttons and guessing my way through it... Otherwise, it's easy to follow the main gameplay parts.
I must admit though, that I have never completed the game. I think the most I've got through, is about 80%, which is a decent chunk. Sooner or later, each time I've tried playing through it, I've ended up getting too stuck, due to the language barrier and not understanding why I was losing...
Is it worth it? It's up to you really. The translation walkthrough guides are not amazing, like I said. They'll get you through most of the game, but it's still not great. There are times when you won't understand what's going on (mostly the game making / sim parts, like I mentioned). That said, I personally feel it's worth playing. Sure, I can't complete it (haven't tried in a couple of years though), but it's such a weird and unique game, that I don't think any Dreamcast fan should miss out on it. The fan service is immense!
