Shocking news! Thought it'd never happen.

I'm not too hyped myself though. I think I'll replay it on PS1 or PSP one day though ... or maybe even try that HD mod for the PC version.

But I'm not getting a PS4 anyways:
It will take a translated Shining Force III Trilogy with bonus disc extras to sell me on a PS4 (or any system really).
...just another lost soul...

So I wonder how much the gameplay will change? Will we still have fixed camera angles, or will we have a dynamic camera? That could make a huge difference.

Super stoked either way. FFVII was the PS1's defining game, so I'm quite glad to see it given another day in the sun (and not as a port).

This might actually make Final Fantasy VII into the game the fans seem to think it is

Just a better translation and clearer graphics would be enough for this to be worth it for me. FFVII was a hard to follow mess.

I think a better translation is pretty much guaranteed, and they will probably go even further than that and actually make the details easier to follow and less obscure than even the original release.

There are so many things I can't wait to see. HD cross-dressed Cloud! The fucking Golden Saucer! The Midgar Zolom impaled! That motorcycle scene! Every Jenova! Every summon! Cloud's breakdown! So, so much. I am beyond hyped.

A very small part of my sorta hates that I am doing exactly what they wanted with this cash-grab, but I just don't care, this is amazing.

Grinding Materia is going to be brutal assuming they fix the W-Item glitch. And will they add another Mystile, again assuming they fix the trick you can do to get it in the original? Which version of Chocobuckle will we get?? I MUST KNOW THESE THINGS.

Well, FF VII sold PS1s in 1997, I guess it can sell PS4s in 2016?

This made me laugh, because I feel exactly the same way.

FF7 gets a huge amount of love, very little of it deserved in my opinion. But a remake could go a long way to fixing my personal complaints. Better translation work and a more consistent graphical style would be huge, while some streamlining (or at least making the mandatory mini-games more enjoyable) would also help immensely.

What I'm most interested to see if how fans receive changes to the game. I've never seen a more passionate fanbase for one game... except maybe the Mother series?.. so watching to see how changes are over-analyzed and received will be fun.

I hope they go the full Bridget route and make males everywhere question their sexuality.
