I'd recommend checking out Heavy Metal magazine. I haven't actually read an issue in many years, but they have a lot of totally fantastic (often European) comics in there. I know I have at least one Jodorowsky story in there. (Just be aware they a typical issue also has a fair amount of trashy/erotica stuff in there too.)
Also a lot of the Jodorowsky/Moebius stuff has been reprinted by Humanoids. Still pretty expensive though; I don't actually have any of their stuff.
Comic Books & Graphic Novels - What are you reading?

They do seem to have at least some stuff in not-deluxe form, or digitally, which is at least an option. Thanks!

I read The Unwritten, which my brother gave me. It's about a writer's son who poses as the main character for a series of fantasy novels that are very much like Harry Potter. Things get crazy though as it turns out that words are more powerful than magic.

A big pile arrived a few days ago. Cyanide & Happiness, Megaman, Bee & Puppycat, and Black Magic.

I need some good DC recommendations.
I'm considering Marvel Unlimited, which will get me access to pretty much anything I would want from the Marvel camp. But I also have one of the nation's most expansive extended library networks at my fingertips, so I can get my hands on most GNs no problem. That means I have the tools to explore DC more in-depth. So I'm interested in seeing what's out there. I've read some of the higher profile stuff, so I'm looking for some of the gems and under-the-radar stuff, meaning stuff that isn't Sandman, Swamp Thing, Constantine, or Batman.

The New 52 Aquaman run is great. There are a couple slow points, the part that is a flashback to his previous team "The Others" comes to mind, but the first arc, Throne of Atlantis, and the two most recent arcs are awesome. (Trades Vol 1, 3-6)marurun wrote:I need some good DC recommendations.

If you like Batman, you may want to check out Grayson. Its a cross between a little bit of Nightwing/Batman and a whole lot of Steranko's Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD.
Also, it was short lived, but the OMAC New 52 reboot (O.M.A.C. Vol. 1: Omactivate!) is phenomenal. I highly recommend it.
Did you read Flashpoint, the story that lead up to the New 52? It was a good elsewhere style book, and the tie in series were just as fun. This is DC's "Age of Apocalypse" That explains everything up until this week's Convergence event.
Re: Comic Books & Graphic Novels - What are you reading?
I did read the first Aquaman trade, and I did rather like it. I managed to get through the library network that massive tome that has the first issue of each of the New 52 series. So I read 52 first issues. Sadly, I didn't find many of them all that compelling. I did follow through with a little Aquaman (I need to read more), I've got Wonder Woman waiting for me right now, and I've read the first couple Batman trades as well and liked those OK. Batwoman was fantastic, especially the first trade (pre New 52 I think). Liked Justice League Dark at first, but it's moved into some weird crossover territory at the volume I'm on that makes it hard to follow what's going on. It's really annoying. And truth told, it's just not very good, especially compared to classic Constantine and Swamp Thing.

My last two pickups were the first Fables Trade and one of the Hack/Slash Omnibuses, but that was months ago.
I'll pick up more at some point, I just don't know where to get them. If I find comic shops, they're focused on singles, which is fine, but the way I read a single isn't enough for me.

Anyone know of good ones for kids? Are all the mainstays pretty much for an older audience? Or would something like Wonder Woman be okay?
