Exactly what I was thinking. Creative talent shouldn't be made to do the same thing over and over again. This could be the best thing to happen to Kojima since Zone of the Enders.Erik_Twice wrote:I, for one, hope Kojima leaves Konami and starts making games that aren't Metal Gear Solid
Kojima quits?

Not playing Devil's advocate for Konami, but they did let him have quite a few side projects. Snatcher, Policenauts, Tokimeki Memorial series, Boktai series, Zone of the Enders series, and he was working on Silent Hills. If any of his other works had struck as successful a chord as his Metal Gear franchise, he likely would have been working on those in a large capacity as well.J T wrote:Creative talent shouldn't be made to do the same thing over and over again.

I never got the impression that he didn't want to make MGS games.J T wrote:Exactly what I was thinking. Creative talent shouldn't be made to do the same thing over and over again. Re: Kojima quits?
I for one knew the MGS stock was heading downhill when David Hayter was no longer Solid Snake.
Seriously though, what a blow to Konami. I can't help but feel like they were becoming to be a one-trick pony lately, with Metal Gear Solid being virtually the best selling and most-well known titles. You can debate with me if you'd like, but it's not like Castlevania Lords of Shadow, or Pro-Evolution Soccer/Winning Eleven were really moving boatloads of copies. There's only 4 games that have come out or are in the development for the PS4, so maybe Konami is actually having some serious thoughts of a restructuring, etc.
Hopefully this does lead to Konami taking a breather and perhaps doing other things that he'd like to pursue.
Will I still play Phantom Pain? Yes, though I'll be sad it's not a Hideo Kojima Production.

My understanding was he was leaving after MGS5 was done.Blu wrote: Will I still play Phantom Pain? Yes, though I'll be sad it's not a Hideo Kojima Production.
Re: Kojima quits?
Was there any writing on the wall that hints at that Noise? I was referencing the part the article speaks about the Splash page no longer saying it's a Hideo Kojima game.

well this article http://www.gamespot.com/articles/kojima ... 0-6426024/ says he's leaving after MGS5.
Polygon seems to think that GameSpot's source is reliable as well.

Re: Kojima quits?
Ah, wow that tends to make sense. I wonder what the causes for the fallout between Kojima productions and Konami were? Production on MGS V taking forever? Refusal to make Metal Gear Solid Rising 2?
Or was Kojima being an entitled brat? I can't say that's really a possibility -- the series was his brainchild to be honest.

Re: Kojima quits?
I hope Metal Gear Solid V comes to a definitive end then, because any MGS game without Kojima is really going to be a disappointment.

Re: Kojima quits?
Think Kojima's career at Konami was something not too far off from this?
