yes. Honestly, for a suggestion as to which one to play first, it's hard to say. I think Morrowind is a great recommendation. All I have to say is don't skip out on Oblivion. I actually would love to re play Oblivion in the future, even after beating Skyrim. There's a chance that Oblivion will not have aged well since I last played it, but I have such fond memories of that game.

Oh, and get down and dirty with Skyrim on that new GPU of yours.

My thoughts on it are this. If you had to play a single Elder Scrolls Game, it would be Morrowind. Sure, it has its failings. The combat system is a bit... lackluster in comparison to oblivion and skyrim, but the world it creates and the people contained in said world are spectacular. There is something for everyone in this game and so many layers that you can peel to reveal secrets if that is your thing.

There is a lot of reading to do, so take that into consideration as all the dialog is unvoiced, but for good reason. There is a lot that these characters have to say and a lot of it continues to add to the character. In later games, you are assaulted with the same 4-6 voice actors that makes you lose some of the magic.

What makes it better than Oblivion and Skyrim is the world itself. It seems alien and has a culture that is rich and far beyond what is considered fantasy. It stands out from the high fantasy that we see in the majority of games set in this genre.

Morrowind, unlike Skyrim or Oblivion takes a lot of time. You have to set time aside to sit down and play it. The only fast travel available to you is from the enormous, lumbering silt striders, so be prepared. You can't quickly finish a quest or two in a small span of time like you can in the later games, which some feel is a detriment, but to me is part of the enjoyment.

You don't have waypoints constantly telling you where you need to go and what you need to do. You have to put in the legwork and fill in the gaps and do some genuine investigation to complete the tasks at hand.

I can not say if it is up your alley Noise or not, but for me, it was something truly special. I had been a fan of the series since I got to play the Elder Scrolls: Arena demo when you still had a team of 3 in your party on an old, "PLAY 1000+ GAMES ON YOUR COMPUTER," cd. The series holds a place dear to my heart and I genuinely think that Morrowind is the pinnacle of the series in terms of world building. If it had the oblivion or Skyrim combat system, it would be absolutely spectacular.

Totally agree! I want to post a wall of text but am too tied. Morrowind is the best Elder Scrolls game. Play this one on any platform. The xbox version isn't that bad.

No, it isn't. They aren't for everyone. The only one I could play through to the end was Skyrim, and that was because it was the only one without a super-clunky interface and a horrid combat engine. I put a solid 4-8 hours each into both Morrowind and Oblivion and while the worlds were interesting enough and the hook of exploration was there, I found the stories/characters/and gameplay experience to be more frustrating than fun.

I'd say try Skyrim at some point and, if you find you like it, maybe go back to the others afterwards. They each stand by themselves and don't need to be played in order at all. But, given that you seemed to have already stopped Dragon Age (which is the closest comparison of a game that I know that you've played) I don't think that these are games you'd dig.

Cool.

I don't think that DA is a close comparison, really - just the closest of what I recall you playing. Have you played the recent Fallout games? They would be another fair comparison, I think, but I like both of them far better than any of the TES games.

Of course you liked the worst one. Hell, Battlespire is better than Skyrim.

I highly recommend playing it. I am a newcomer, and have barely been playing for a month, so i can tell you my Newcomer's suggestion. :D

Anyways, when i started, it was a little overwhelming. I'm still learning new things. But, the best advice is to just pace yourself; your not going to know everything the moment you start. Just start off getting some decent weapons, make sure you create a good, well balanced character (For example, never try to make a "Well rounded" character. It never ends up well. Just find what you want him to do, and tailor his abilities around that.) and explore.

That's just your bitterness at the removal of a massive character sheet talking. Skyrim was a lot of fun, though I do agree that Morrowind has been my favorite still. The biggest thing that makes me sad about more modern TES games is the removal of Spears. Most of the rest of the changes have been cutting out some of the utter brokenness that was available in Morrowind. It's not often you see a game that has so many exploits available in the base game engine that cheat mods seem tame by comparison.

Now if only Bethesda would put spears and Levitate back into the series, I'd be a much happier camper.
