It is, though it was also released as a stand-alone version. Just wondered if people liked those levels better than the original, the same or less.Ivo wrote:Oh No more Lemmings is just an expansion, i.e. a bunch of extra levels, exactly same gameplay as the first if I recall.
What's the best Lemmings title?

Has anyone here officially beaten Lemmings 100%?
I'm not sure if the SNES version had extra levels or not. I was pretty young when I was playing it so I could only do so much, but my dad and one of his friends got all the way to the last 5 "Sunsoft" levels I believe, but I don't think they ever officially beat it.

Yes. On PC. Did it last year.Xeogred wrote:Has anyone here officially beaten Lemmings 100%?
As a kid I got about 75% of the way through the Mac version. I still like the Mac soundtrack the best.
@Erik_Twice
Your best bet (in my opinion) is to pick up a PC-DOS CD-ROM version of the game. Those are still pretty cheap. Runs smoothly in DOSBox.
Of course since you live in Europe you could be completely wacky and play it on the CDTV or something.

Yes, cleared all levels of the SNES port when we played it last year for Together Retro.Xeogred wrote:Has anyone here officially beaten Lemmings 100%?

The SNES port does have the 5 additional "Sunsoft" levels (also cleared those), not found in any other version. They're harder than Mayhem level!

Toss up really between the original and then 2 (Tribes) as they have some fun maps and skills to use. I was surprised how nice Lemmings 2 was with the mouse support on SNES.

Man, no one else knows Lemmings Paintball? My childhood has a sad.

I know (remember) it, and also Lemmings 3D.
Re: What's the best Lemmings title?
Yeah, I played the demo of 3D. That was when individual camera controls were just starting out, it reminded me very much of Mario 64, and just as convoluted.

I've actually read fans say good things about Lemmings 3D despite it being seen as a black sheep by more mainstream sources.
Great to see people beating these games too! How many maps do they have? A hundred? That's really cool.

Has anyone here ever played the homebrew port of Lemmings to the DS ? I played all of the original levels on that version. It adds a zoom function (for better pinpointing a single lemming) AND a speedup function that accelerates time, making, in my opinion, the game more straightforward to play as you can more quickly put your devised strategy to the test. EDIT: And you can pause the action and tap the speed up icon briefly with the stylus to advance time step by step to precisely pinpoint a lemming and give it an action on a specific frame of animation, which I appreciated personally.
The homebrew port comes with a level designer app for PC which allows one to design his or her own levels and export them to be played in the DS homebrew port. The port does come with HEAPS of levels from past PC installments though, like Christmas Lemmings among others.
To my knowledge, the sound FX and music in that port use the amiga version as a base. The only thing I didn't like in that version over the SNES one (the only version I own as a genuine copy) is that every music track plays one after the other instead of looping. And I'm still partial to the music of the SNES version over all the other versions but that's because it's the version I grew up playing
.
Played this port using my R4 and is probably THE homebrew project I played the most on it!
EDIT: Think I might as well post a link to that project:
